It is 70 in DC today. I am loving the spring weather. So far, I have went for a walk, went to the park and had a play date picnic. We just finished dinner and I feel guilty for not going back out and enjoying the great weather but I am plum tuckered out from enjoying it this morning and afternoon.

It got up to 70 today? I hate being in an interior office - I can't even enjoy the weather through a window, and the weather is suppose to go back to normal by the weekend. Guess it'll be a nice night to walk the dogs, at least.

(theresa, I didn't know you lived in the DC area.)

I know what you mean, Theresa. We had a heat wave last week here in Idaho Falls. It got up past 40 and the snow started melting. Did you know there's a layer of asphalt beneath the ice? Huh! The kids went outside for the first time in a month. Whew! I got tired getting all those boots and mittens on them. [Big Grin]

[Mad] [Mad] [Mad] [Mad] [Mad]

From Hell's frozen heart (a.k.a. Minnesota) I spit at thee. And the spit goes "clink" when it hits the ground.

(Okay, not really. It got up into the 40's the past couple days, but now it's cold again [Frown] )

70 is SPRING?!

It was 50 here today and it felt like the middle of spring. Most of the snow even melted.

I'm looking forward to 70 when I go on vacation.

My plane leaves in EXACTLY two weeks!

I've lived in DC for the last 4 years. My husband works for DHS and we live in Arlington. I really do love the area most of the time.

Lyrhawn, I remember those Michigan springs well. I lived in the UP until college then I lived in Mount Pleasant for 5 years. I was jealous of Detroit weather back then. When I visit Michigan at the holidays, I am always reminded of why I insisted we move south after school.

I have a ten month old who hates the cold so it was so nice to have weather that she was actually excited to go out in. She refuses to wear her mittens and hats are quite a struggle with her!

Kwea -

Near you actually. I'll be in Tampa. It's possible we might be going to Orlando for one night, but I doubt I'll have much say in side trips. Let me know what your schedule is like during that week/weekend though, maybe we could meet halfway if we're both free.

theresa -

I suppose I shouldn't complain. Detroit and the northern burbs always seem to fall into that little narrow band that never gets as much snow as the places north and south of us. Generally I'm a bigger fan of snow than anyone around me. I usually start my complaining in the middle of February or so, but this year I started my complaining a couple weeks ago. It's been uncommonly cold. Snow that fell in December stayed here for a month and a half straight. Usually it melts and comes back, but we just kept getting gut punched with Canadian freezing weather. These last few days have been a GODSEND. Hell when it got above freezing for the first time I thought it felt like spring, which I don't usually think of when the temp is 32. But it's starting to warm up now on a more regular basis.

50-55 is one of my favorite temperatures. So long as it isn't blindingly windy, it's absolutely amazing walking weather...when the ground doesn't look like the Dead Marshes from Middle Earth anyway.

I still plan to live out my life here, potholes and hellish winters and all, but I can EASILY imagine myself going south for a few years to get away.

Yesterday was a rather balmy February day for northern Kansas. We hit 65 degrees for an afternoon high.
