I am looking forward to R. Scott Bakker's 'The Judging Eye' which is due out some time this month.
Patrick Rothfuss' 'The Wiseman's Fear' is also due out. I have a (hopefully wrong) suspicion that it will not live up to the standards set by 'Name of the Wind'.
Theoretically I'm also looking forward to the next George RR Martin, but I'm not naive enough to think it will be published this year.
What other books are people eagerly anticipating this year?

It's already out, at least in Canada. I've already bought and read it.

I'm looking forward to the anthology rerelease of the Glittering Stone subset of Glen Cook's Black Company books. And, hopefully, to the rerelease of Peter Watts' βehemoth.

I'm currently trying to decide if I'm anticipating any of the Laurell K. Hamilton books due out this year. I didn't read the last two, (although I skipped Swallowing Darkness because I have to be in the right mood for the Merry Gentry series and I haven't been recently, not because I'm growing tired of the series) but the Anita Blake series seems to be getting stale. I even went so far as to sell all my Anita Blake novels on ebay last year to make room for new books. Now that the books are coming out on audible.com I may go back to the series on audio though.

I am just slavering in anticipation of Sherwood Smith's 4th Inda book, Treason's Shore. I'm almost done with the third installment and I'm really irked that I have to wait a few months.
I'm also really looking forward to Rothfuss' sequel. I have really high hopes for it. as I've been reading his blog and he's been holed up doing final revisions. Yay!!

I didn't know she was doing more books in the series, although she did leave it open for that. I'll definitely get that book as well. I like the Inda series a lot. I assume it won't follow Inda anymore, but Tau?

Supposedly the last wheel of time book will be out. I am not sure how I feel about that though. I have read the rest and kinda want to see how it ends, but so many of those books are just so bad...

Oh, that's right! Of course, I'm only in Fires of Heaven right now, but I've been listening to them at my brother's request. He actually read the physical books, while I am enjoying Kate Reading's and Michael Kramer's performances.

I got as far as the 7th or 8th Anita Blake books, but as they descended faster into porn I lost interest. And I like porn.

She keeps swearing that Anita will go back to being the butt kicker we all knew and loved, but I'm not so sure. Edward is supposed to be in this next book, so I'm considering it. The recent books with Edward have been closer to the old Anita, (though still not as good as the early novels).
I don't mind the sexuality in the Merry Gentry series at all, probably because it was a part of the series from the start, rather than something that seems to have been added later and drastically changed the main character.

I may be a little lame for saying this. But I'm looking forward to A Wizard of Mars by Diane Duane. The next book in her Young Wizards series. The series is a guilty pleasure of mine. And I really enjoyed the last one.

Yeah. The next one will be the ninth in the series. And I'm not sure there's really an end in sight. The stories are a little repetitive and follow the same basic formula sometimes. But they still make for a fun read in between headier, heavier stuff.

I'm looking forward to to Daniel Abraham's The Price of Spring, and to Ian Tregillis'Milkweed Tryptich,the first book of which will be out sometime this year.
I was going to say that I was looking forward to the release Busted Flush by Martin et al, but it turns out that that came out in December! I had no idea. I'm going to be going and finding a copy of it tomorrow. Well, calling around until I find a local copy, and then buying it, but still.

Butcher's latest is my only "must have" so far this year. More than likely that is due to me having a huge list of books to read...I'm trying to work through the summer reading list for the kids at the school where I'm student teaching and where' I've applied and since they have a choice of about 8 books per grade each summer, it's a lot of reading.

The first chapter of Turn Coat is up on Jim Butcher's website, and the second should be posted tomorrow. They'll be posting the first five chapters (one per Tuesday) leading up to the release. Yay! So, if you can't wait for the book you can toddle on over!

I was looking forward to the fourth volume in Lois Bujold's The Sharing Knife series, which came out the end of January. I had it on pre-order and didn't open the box when it arrived until I was done with all the work from my January class.
And then I read it in one day. And it was great.
I suspect I may not be reading any more fiction until May, so it was nice to have that one gulp be something that I was really looking forward to.
