I feel like I *shouldn't* feel any different about it than any other 22-year-old who put in a good day of work then got killed driving home late that night. But I do.
<edit>Show's that not everybody's on the same page. I was reacting (mistakenly, due to the similarity of the names) to the death of Nick Adenhart, a rookie pitcher for the Angels, who died last night after pitching his first game of the season. Sad about Dave Arneson, too.</edit>

Arneson worked at my school in the Game Development program up until about a year ago. I never got to meet him until his retirement party. Even at the time it was clear he was sick and I felt bad taking up his time (I was at the end of a long line of people wanting to get autographs, by the time he got to me he wasn't even signing them himself, he was having an aid help him with it).
I was always vaguely aware the Gygax wasn't the real "designer" behind D&D and am sad that I didn't learn how important Dave was (and how easily I could have talked to him) until it was too late.

Either my assumption that Porter always tells the truth must be discarded or the entire internet is broken. I'm not sure which conclusion scares me most.

Well, to be fair he said he always posts his links in smilies but he didn't say that all his smilies are links...
