Each year when Spring hits en force suddenly I find myself wanting to pull out certain CDs. In past years, when I was a teenager, one such album was Songs from Suburbia. I almost hate to admit that now.

More recently, I've been associating anything from The Redwalls with the warm months as well as music from two other bands that were some of last Summer's favorites: The Silver Seas and The Snake The Cross The Crown (specifically the album Cotton Teeth).

What are some artists, albums, songs that you feel are more for Summer listening?

I pull out the Horrorscope album by Eve 6 when driving in the summertime.

The songs that I remember listening to in the summers of 1973, 1974, 1976 and 1996 always make me think of spring/summer.

"Get Down"
"Monster Mash"
"Both Sides Now"
"Undercover Angel"
"Afternoon Delight"
"Rock 'n Roll Music" (the Beach Boys version)
"The Boys are Back in Town"
"You Were Meant For Me"
"Sunny Came Home"
"Don't Stop"
"LoveFool"
"Where Have All the Cowboys Gone"
"Every Day is a Winding Road"

And then there are obvious songs like "Summer in the City" and "In the Summertime"

[edited to add 1973]

Some good ones in there!! [Big Grin]

"(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay" is another good one.

And basically ANY song from The Sandlot soundtrack. [Cool]

(edited to fix parentheses)

Oooh, especially "the Boys are Back in Town". Also, Eric Clapton's (Derek and the Dominoes) "Layla" is evocative of the beginning of the end of summer.

And almost anything by The Band or CCR.
