The phrase "I could care less" strikes many people as an indefensible and illogical bastardization of "I couldn't care less."
But there's a sort of sarcasm inherent in "I could care less," as if it means: yea, i care a little. But that little bit of caring is so minuscule that it could go away at any moment. "I couldn't care less" is so direct and blunt in comparison. So is "as if I could care less" which is where I think "I could care less" came from.
Anyway, here's someone who doesn't like "I could care less."
