Well....not quite.

Missed it by that much!

Granted it'd probably be rather difficult to pull in the actors anymore since they've moved on to other work now, but still, a man can dream.

Somehow I doubt this new one will do so well without Whedon.

I'll be honest, around here that sort of bait and switch nearly warrants the death penalty.

More like: "Fox gets it wrong again"

or

"Fox tries to make up for the worst programming decision in its history...incorrectly"

or

"Fox gives the finger to Whedon...again"

Sounds a lot like a certain Stephen King series, although that might just be because of the word gunslinger.

Yeah, this sounds like the perfect deal for Fox -- Whedon's great idea, only without Whedon's input or influence.

Well, the basic premise makes me think more of Han Solo than it does the Firefly crew. It's not like it was really new when Whedon did it, it was just really well done.

They could call it Firefox. (I spent about 10 minutes trying to come up with a way to combine the getfirefox.com thread and the "Fox renews Firefly" thread into a single clever Doby, but this was the best I could come up with.)

Welcome to Fox's new world of Flamebug! Follow the adventures of Captain "Sal" Reynold (Patrick Warburton) and his Flamebug-class cruiser as he fights against the totalitarian Association and tries to stay a step ahead of the savage, flesh-eating Harvesters.

Meet his exciting and dynamic crew: ever loyal Zoey Cleanburn (Rutina Wesley), violent but funny Jann Club (Neil Flynn), and perky engineer Keylee Bake (Yunjin Kim). Uh oh! Things get complicated when the ship picks up a mysterious veterinarian with a very large cooler, a wise and mysteriously well-informed Rabbi they just call "Kindle," and a seemingly harmless bumbler played by Harrison Ford of Star Wars!

Flamebug premiers on October 13th on Fox, this time with the full support of the network.

You know, from reading the article it didn't seem to me that this is necessarily a Firefly clone. It just says it's a western with contemporary and scifi elements about a gunslinger caught between worlds. I don't think I saw anything in there to say for sure that it's a space opera like Firefly; could have more to do with parallel dimensions rather than space travel.
Scifi westerns predated Firefly (Westworld's an obvious one but Star Wars had plenty of western elements in it), though Whedon took that kind of idea and knocked it out of the park. In any case, I'll wait to learn more info before I pass judgement. Could be a cool show.

So is, y'know, human interaction, Blayne. Just because the standards aren't objective and written down clearly somewhere doesn't make them any less real or worthwhile.

*shrug* Take the advice to heart or not. It makes no difference to me, but it would make a difference to you.

Yes but a general understanding of what's considered humorous by society at large can serve you well, in particular if your intention is to be funny for other people.
