I have a 67 ounce container of Prego Traditional style that I've only used once. I inadvertantly left the container sitting out for about 9 hours in a room about 71 degrees, before noticing and putting it in the refrigerator. Is it ok to eat, or am I being overly paranoid?

Isn't that the same stuff they keep on the shelf at the supermarket at room temp?

67 oz.? Seriously? Dude.
But, yes, I'd imagine that it's probably safe to eat.

Yes, but you're supposed to refrigerate after opening.

I wouldn't worry. That stuff is highly acidic, it probably qualifies as a germicide. LOL

technicaly, no, it is not safe.

In pratice, it should be fine, IMO, but use it once and throw it out....don't save it, even in a fridge.

I'd heat it to a simmer first, but I'd probably eat it.

How long has it been in the refridgerator since you left it out? I'd be ok with eating it a day or two later but i wouldn't leave it even refrigerated to incubate and grow for long.

It's been back in the fridge for about 36 hours now. I guess I should perhaps start buying smaller, more numerous containers.

Ok eat it tonight, not next week.

My family's problem is no one really likes tomato sauce so we never need even the second smallest jar (the smallest is too little). We used squeezie or a long time.
