Is anyone here familiar with their books? I'm interested in reading Crick's The Astonishing Hypothesis: The Scientific Search for the Soul and Koch's The Quest for Consciousness. My dilemma is this; I've read quite a bit of Dennett, Pinker, Ramachandran, The Churchlands, Ledoux, etc...and I'm not sure if I'm going to be just covering the same ground with these ones. Astonishing Hypothesis in particular i'm curious about, as it's about 15 years old now, and seems to focus a lot on the visual system, which is not only covered in many of the other works I listed, but the knowledge may be out of date. Is it still worth a read?
Koch's book is much newer and has some great reviews by the likes of Eric Kandel and Oliver Sachs, so I'm thinking that one might be the more interesting one. But since Koch worked with Crick, and built up his theories through their collaboration, I'm wondering if I should read Crick first as a primer to what will be covered in Koch's.
So has anyone read either of this books? Thoughts?

which is just one of the most fantastic compendium's of essays I've ever come across. You could spend the rest of your life there and not finish reading everything.
