How could anyone read that XKCD and not go to Wikipedia to check.

They haven't deleted that thing yet? Amazing.

Honestly, Tova is in bed, and I almost woke her up when I got to the Urban Dictionary entry. Totally didn't see it coming.

Thing is, deleting it now is entirely counter to wikipedia's stated purpose. The word has become noteworthy.

Not so much. It's a flash in the pan. The best idea I've seen is turning it into a pointer to Wikipedia in culture.

Wish I didn't have to ask...

What did this have to do with Lisa?

Man, just following the Google results on this reveals a harrowing look at a culture of stone-cold and presumably Asperger's-crippled nerds.

Given the long life of other xkcd memes, I can virtually guarantee you that it will see a continued level of usage (including to tweak wikipedia editors) for years and years to come (and probably longer; xkcd hasn't been around long enough to verify that impact, though).

Think of the trouble all those people could have gotten into I they hadn't ha that kind of outlet. The Internet is the pressure release valve for nerds, dweebs, and spazoids the world over [Smile]

Lisa, are you really banned from more than one revert per page per week?

*Goes back to edit the page on Cherenkov Radiation*

I'm happy to have discovered TV Tropes where I can make those kind of popular culture edits.

However I do find the digs at aspenger sufferers and other nerds somewhat more insulting then our depiction on 'The Big Bang Theory' please stop.

I'm pretty sure that's over now. It was a year long sentence, and a bizarre one. A guy named Alistair pissed a million different people off (including me), so there was a proceeding against him. In the process, one of his defenders decided that I needed to be punished as well. It was odd, but that's Wikipedia.

Oh, please don't. If you remember, I wasn't the one who put a stop to that; it was an admin.

Asperger "sufferers"? Most Aspies don't suffer all that much. Not once they learn how to deal with neurotypicals, anyway. [Wink]

Two or three times, probably. Maybe more, but nothing recently. Wikipedia is like crack. It's kind of like this.

People nowadays have no input on what goes in the Bible, The Koran, or just about any media source broadly read that tells us how the universe is.

Wikipedia gives them that outlet, and they'll be damned if they are going to actually share. [Smile]

Sorry to double post but this reminds me of the time we attempted to encapsulate hatrack into a Wikipedia entry. I remember Wikipedia's response was swift and deadly.
