Or at least Part One of it is.

You can watch (very short) previews of Mission 1 and Mission 2 on Youtube.

I forgot all about this! Playing it now. I'm somewhat ashamed to admit that I actually lost the first mission on my first try -- I let Kligsen get a little too close to a few too many siege tanks. [Wink]

Yikes, I'm actually struggling to get anywhere in the first mission. It seems like I either get sloppy with Kliegsen and leave him in a place where enemies later show up and ambush him, or a huge ball of some unit I wasn't expecting shows up when I'm off somewhere else with my main force.

Getting through the heavily entrenched forces is a bit of a grind without banshees, since it essentially forces you to go tank/viking and creep ahead slowly. It's a massive change of pace from the huge amounts of multiplayer I've been playing, so it was a pretty big shock.

How long is finishing the first mission supposed to take? I have yet to get anywhere near the probe, and I've played for 20 minutes more than once.

It does take a little while. I intended it to be a siege tank advance, but I might have gone a little overboard setting up the enemy defenses.

Anyway, if you can't get through it or get too bored, skip to the second cutscene and then try the second mission. It's much better than the first (according to everybody).

I was feeling good about my progress, fending off the constant harrassment with a small supply of marines, marauders, and medics and a small force of vikings for the medivacs and ravens stationed in my base. While I had a decent army etching my way through the enemy defenses.

Then a ton of battleship cruisers came into my base.

Back to square one. (It is fun, though!)

I no longer have vespene gas income. [Razz] Marines it is!

Edit: Oh, I guess I still have gas in my auto refinery. So marines marines marines and then a raven every so often.

Success! A maxed army of 3/3 marines/medics with a few marauders mixed in for infantry. Three siege tanks and a fistful of thors for damage output. And a couple of ravens and a viking to scout/detect.

Onward!

[Edited for clarity.]

Man, I'm seriously struggling against the immortals. I wish I was less sloppy with my dudes, since with the money I've spent on repairing stuff so far I could easily have gotten the upgrade for my big surprises.

I rescued Zolthanon, but lost my big surprises and most of my other stuff in the process. Yikes! Now I'm creeping my way slowly and painfully back to the launch site...

Now I'm down to Zolthanon, Kleigsen, and Bucky. Freedom!

You make hard missions, dude. [Razz]

I definitely will. Should be sometime this summer?

What did you think of the frills (cutscenes, voice acting)?

For an amateur production, they were great. The guy who does Zolthanon is really good, the others are a little uneven at times. The cutscenes were outstanding given that they're in-engine -- I don't see how you could have done them better from a technical standpoint. [Smile]

The story's pretty intriguing conceptually, too, which is good. I like the notion of purity of form. I wasn't in love with the opening, it felt a little pat, but once the story got moving I was definitely interested to see where it was going to go, and I still am. [Cool]

Looks awesome, I'll download it this weekend.

Do mind if I spread the link(s) around a bit?
