Sad to say, I can't honestly say this surprises me anymore, but it is yet another sorry example of the blatant disconnect between the US government's professed ideals and its realities.

Yeah, I've reached the point of "American hypocrisy fatigue." You really need the big juicy stories to really, not even shock people, but merely to get interest and all these formerly amusing data-points are just common place now.

John Stewart had a segment that was like "I give up" and the things was, at this point, it wasn't really funny because the giving up thing was how I actually feel.
