Hey all, I'm not much for prayer and what not, but I'll take any good will and positive feelings I can get.
A large group of my friends involved in the English honors society at my undergraduate school back in Michigan were involved in a four car accident on their way to downtown Detroit earlier today. They were going to a local infamous used book store and were stopped in traffic, while they were stopped, an old man slammed into the back of one of the cars in the group, which pushed that car into another car in the group.
Two girls, freshman, were killed in the first car. Another is in critical condition in a Detroit hospital. The girls who were killed were freshman, 18 and 19. This was their first Sigma Tau Delta (the honors society) event and they were really excited about it. The young woman in critical condition is an officer in the group. My friends were all in the second car that was hit, but other than some bruises and strains, they all made it out with only some severe emotional scaring. Some of my other friends were in two other cars in an adjoining lane and witnessed the whole thing. They're extremely upset.
I'm thankful that my friends made it out alive, but I'm still upset that there was a loss of life, and that one girl is still hanging on by a thread. If I was back in Detroit, I would have been in one of those cars for sure.
So if you could keep them in your prayers, or if you don't pray, keep them in your thoughts and send some positive energy, I'd appreciate it. I'm hoping some of the people in Sigma, or the history honors society, will organize some sort of fundraiser to help the families. I just wish I was back there right now to help.

I'm not one for prayer either, but I will definitely keep them in my thoughts. You have my sympathies.

It's tough being away from your people when there's been a tragedy and you want to be there and support them. I'll be thinking of them and their families.
