One night only each: Linky

I'm pretty excited to see the extended additions in the theater! Good luck, hope everyone has a theater close enough.

I tried watching the first half of The Two Towers Extended one time. I decided the movie was better without the padding.

Of course, the only LOTR book I've read from cover-to-cover is Fellowship, so seeing everything in the books isn't as important to me when watching the movies.

I'm the opposite. I can't go back to watching the theatrical versions after having seen the extended editions. I thought they were so much richer.

I thought the Fellowship extended was way better than the other two. The completely changed the openning of the movie and added key scenes that, for me at least, were more entertaining than the extra scenes in the sequels. All in all, I enjoyed them, but the fellowship is still my favorite.

Also, I don't really see the need to release these in theaters again. I'd say wait at least another five years. I mean, we just watched them a few years ago, didn't we? And it's not like they're adding anything to them (you could say the extended versions weren't in theaters, but honestly none of it is really that new). After all, that's the only reason I went and watched star wars over and over in theaters.

Anyway, I doubt too many people will go see it. A lot of people already complained about the length before when they were out, so I can only imagine what they'll say now.

Fellowship came out 10 years ago.

I'll probably just end up buying the extended blu-rays when they eventually get discounted on sale (2012 Christmas?).

I never saw the extended versions...although I read all the books...a decade before the movies came out.

If not for the kids and a serious lack of time and money I would go see these.

Lame. No theater within a two hour drive of me. I'm a little floored by that actually, southeast Michigan is ripe for something like this.

Awesome, it's happening in Ithaca! We recently hosted our own 13 hour non-stop extended extravaganza on one of our departments biggish screens. But this is a little irresistible...

Already have tickets for the whole family for all three nights. Got them Saturday.

I was at Trilogy Tuesday, and have done my own trilogy days at home for the kids, so this is nothing for me.

Only the crappy theatres near me are showing this. I'm also worried that, since this a Fathom event and not a true rerelease, it will be shown on a dinky preshow projector and not in 35mm or a full DLP projector.

This. Two and a half hour drive, one way. What the heck?

Oh well, I'll celebrate by watching in the comfort of my own home. I can enjoy the DVDs while being away from the noise, expensive food, and jacked-up volume. Heck, I can even take restroom breaks without missing anything. I guess it's their loss, not mine. [Smile]

EGADS, I barely made it through the theater version of the first movie this first time, I can't imagine an extended edition!

This is where I really am a sci-fi/fantassy misfit.

These were all films that I loved the first time I saw them.

However, after watching them a second and third time, they just seem silly. But I never was a Tolkien fan outside of the Hobbit. And The LotR version of Risk. That's a fun game!

You are not alone. My wife LOVES those movies, but I severely lack interest in them. Considering everything she watches for me, I really can't say no.

I tease her though, about the 10+ hour long walk saga.
