Ok, so I know the critics hated it, but I actually thought it was pretty good! Some of the jokes were really quite clever - and even the old standby's had a hint of the ironic to them.
So sure, the themes are the same ones always used over and over again. But... this is a kids movie! The reason those themes are used so often is because they're GOOD, they're things we want our kids to believe, and I thought they were well done. I also loved the emphasis on fatherhood in the movie.
I don't know.. I just liked it, and I really don't understand the D-'s!

What I don't understand is this trend of taking women who seem to be known for their sex appeal and putting them in voice-acting roles. Here it's Perry which could be argued she's known for her singing (which I disagree with but am not nearly knowledgeable enough to really argue about) but, for example, Angelina Jolie. What's the story on that?

I had mercifully forgotten that this was going to be a thing.
lol, from Beifuss:
quote:Wearing a CBGB T-shirt, Neil Patrick Harris rocks out with Clumsy Smurf to 'Guitar Hero.' Historians may want to remember this sequence when they're trying to pinpoint the exact moment that rock and roll died.

I just.....Can't bring myself to even consider watching this movie. Smurfs in CG, fine. Bringing them into New York? Come on... I'm used to seeing Smurfs in the forest.
For kids that know nothing about The Smurfs, I can see the appeal. To me, its blasphemy. I grew up watching the show.
