Being a right coaster, I don't see many earthquakes. A couple of minor tremors but that's it.
I'm in Richmond, VA, close to the epicenter of the 6.0 that just hit. Man that was freaky. The house (70 year old two-story brick) felt like it was twisting back and forth. Fortunately, no apparent damage to the neighborhood.

Cue people talking about how the apocalypse is nigh.
I'm hearing mixed reports from my home town north of Detroit that some people did and some didn't feel it.

I felt it at home in Philadelphia and freaked out with my sister. My mom was totally unimpressed and thought we were being complete sissies.

I was in the FX room at work (in NYC), talking about something weird and nonsensical (typical Tuesday. Actually, typical every day). Roman is facing away from me. He mutters to himself "Ray, stop jumping up and down!" (Apparently this was a high probability explanation to Roman as to why the building was shaking.)
Roman turns around, and sees that I am not, in fact, jumping. Then Dave says "Woah, the building's shaking!"
Then we all run down 30 flights of stairs.
Then a half hour later we shrug and go back up.

I live in Mineral, VA; looks like the epicenter was less than a couple miles from here.
Lots of stuff fell off the walls, some jars broke, and we may've had some damage to a couple of chimneys.
It was pretty strange. I was more confused than scared, just followed other folks out when they started running outside.
We had aftershocks for a good long while -- long rattling booms. Those were actually more scary, because then I knew what they meant.

I'm always blown away when something like this happens and a hatracker happens to live right in the middle of it, but usually in a place I've never heard of before. It's uncanny.

Yeah, weird huh? My favorite experience of this was griping in some political thread about a Supreme Court decision that ruled in favor of corporations discrimating again handicapped workers, and a Hatracker who'd been involved in the case (or in the case at its previous level) made a reply... Felt it here in NC. It was gentle and rather nice feeling honestly. I was napping and didn't think it was an earthquake. I thought I was just really comfy in bed as I drifted off to sleep.

We were in National Children's Medical Center in DC. I thought it was a helicopter landing outside the window.

Strange but true
Yeah, that was my experience in NC as well - my couch vibrated a little bit, I gave it a funny look and stood up until it stopped. I didn't realize it had been an earthquake until my mother called, having heard about the quake on the radio, and asked what was up.

I'm in Hampton, VA, and we totally felt it. I was sitting in my car when it all went down (doomsday, if you will). My car started shaking like it was drunk (or possibly hung over. I don't know the drinking schedule of my car.), and I was on the phone. I was like "OMG my car is shaking, wtf is wrong with it? Did a tire blow out?" But then it stopped and I was safe.

I do wonder if earthquakes elsewhere in the Pacific Rim make it more likely that the Cascadia Subduction Zone quake will happen. Scary thought.
