Is there an easy and free way to convert LateX files to Word?

Thanks

To my knowledge, no. Not if you want to keep symbols, formatting and such intact.

That's disappointing. What if I have no non-English symbols and don't care about formatting (so long as block quotes stay block quotes, paragraphs stay paragraphs, and footnotes stay footnotes)?

I'm not sure if this would work, but can you compile to PDF, and then import PDF into Word?

If there's a good and free program you know of that will convert PDF to word, then I don't see why not.

Um. You mean Word doesn't import PDF files out of the box? Alternatively, can't Acrobat export to .doc? Why do we keep these companies around, if they can't do trivial stuff like this?

Adobe's PDF standard is not really a document format; it's an image format that's punching above its weight.

You can always export LaTeX to RTF, then import the RTF to Word.

Random interwebnet people claim that

a) Acrobat Pro lets you save as Word documents.
b) Google Docs and something called 'Zamzar' will do the conversion.
c) This is a pdf to Word converter.

Still wondering why anyone would want words wrapped in latex, but whatever floats your boat. Just make sure to clean up afterwards...
