I figured this is as good a place as any to ask. My wife took photos on her phone, but had no data plan, and now we've canceled the account, so even if we wanted to send the pictures somewhere, we can't. (A variety of photos, but some were of her mother, and our dogs, all of whom are dead.)
Does anyone have any ideas on how to hack into a phone through the usb port? The phone is a Samsung SGH-A437, if that helps.

Are the photos stored on the SIM card, the internal memory or a memory card?
What I've done is just plug the sucker into a puter and open windows explorer and then just drag and drop the files...but if it was that easy I doubt you would be asking.
If nothing else, bring the phone into your current carrier's store and they will no doubt be able to retrieve the files.

Yeah, if it has a usb connection, you should be able to do what Stone_Wolf suggested. Just plug it in and drag the photos to wherever you want them. You might have to dig through some folders on your phone to find where they are stored first.

The photos are stored in the camera's memory, not a sim card. I have a usb cable for my old phone, but not my wife's. I am unable to mount the (my) camera as a drive in windows, but there was software to sync my phone with a computer. I can't find any such software for my wife's phone.
The question is a bit premature, I bought a cable for my wife's phone, but it hasn't arrived yet.

I usually just email them from the phone to myself, then open the email on my comp. Pretty easy.
