This year is my wife's first Mother's Day as a mother. I am having trouble coming up with something special to give and/or do for her to make her first one memorable. Do you guys have any ideas that I can steal? I know it's kind lame, but I am racking my brain here and coming up nothing.

Were you in Utah, I'd suggest going down to a glass studio and make a glass flower. It's pretty, unique, hand-made, affordable, and it doesn't wilt.
They may have something similar wherever you live.

DNA11 makes genetically unique art pieces, finger prints lips and of course the double helix. Right now the price for a desk portrait size is two hundred, there is a big canvas option starting at four hundred as well. The canvas can be shipped with a frame, ready to decorate the nursery.
It takes a little time to ship out the testing kit, send it back and then wait for the product to arrive.
I gave one to my mother of my dna, quite literally a picture of myself and none other. I don't see why any mother wouldn't love a portrait of their kids truly most unique aspect.

I got my mom a subscription to Arizona Highways magazine. Maybe there's a magazine that features photos and stories of your state.

Does she garden? Mother's Day is the perfect holiday to give plants, because it's planting season (at least here). A rosebush or fruit tree, if you have a yard with room for one, would be a nice gift.

You could always have a Cast made of your child's hand and/or foot. Something memorable that your wife will always love. You can generally find people who do it locally, or try your hand at doing it yourself with a kit. That's what i am trying this year.

AH's post about DNA11 gave me an idea: take a closeup of each of our kids' eyes and arrange them in a framed portrait. I don't think it would look weird if I do it right. Maybe a little note about how she made all of these.

That's a great idea. That would look awesome. Maybe I'll have to rethink what I was envisioning.
I do have multiple kids and was thinking along the lines of photographing each kids' eyes, not just one eye but both at once. I actually photographed each kid last night, but I don't think I got great pictures. I don't have a very good camera. My two youngest were hard to photograph close-up as well. They both were a little too interested in the camera.

On my wife's first mother's day I got a silver frame engraved with "First Mother's Day" and the date with a nice picture of her and my firstborn.

Me: Hey mom. Mom: Yeh. Me: Yo so for mother's day this year I avoided becoming a meth addict. For you. Mom: It's all we could have asked for.

Your mom has a better sense of humor than mine.
