In a sense. It still has like 0.5% market share, but was mostly wiped out by Facebook, and essentially deaded completely by integration of Skype and Facebook by client-side apps.
These days messaging is mostly about protocols, and not proprietary services. The enormity of AOL's incompetence was reflected by its total inability to adapt to the market, particularly when Google and Skype started to get involved with enterprise products and develop business tools, and Facebook started to get involved with messaging.

How funny, I had thought of you just a few days ago, when talking to some one about coolest Race Horse names (because it was almost time for the Kentucky Derby). I was saying how one of my favorite names was "Ender's Sister" which seemed even cooler because of how much you and i used to talk when i first saw that one's name.
