Hey does anyone have any info on this video game I keep hearing about that Card is working on?

It is called "Advent Rising".
From what I understand it is still a way off, and there isn't a terrible lot of information available at this point.
Here is the official page for the game(s). Not a whole lot other than the Press Release. As a gamer myself, I am keeping an eye on this one.

I've seen a lot of press in game magazines about Advent Rising. The graphics look amazing and Orson Scott Card is writing the story. It seems like its going to be an interactive version of one of his books. Except with a ton of action. As a gamer and OSC fan I've been tracking it on GameSpot.com. It's also scheduled to come out March of 2004. I cant wait!
How many other gamers are on this forum?

Isn't that the one where your on-screen character gets to juggle six books and a movie script, while running back and forth across the country, all the while avoiding the evil vending machines?

Advent Rising looks totally awesome! And Xbox isn't sucky. It's the most powerful gaming console out there and from the looks of the screen shots I've seen it'll take either that or a PC to power that graphically amazing game.
So what gaming systems do people on here own?

I'm a PS2 person..it's just a matter of principle But the info site says it's also on pc which is good...my hubby built our computer and it's set up pretty well. The specs on AR look great...Ijust wish it was an rpg. I think all speculative fiction fans are rpg players at heart, even if they've never tried them.

As an American-born PC Gamer, I can't justify supporting any console but the XBox. The whole game-design mindset is completely different over on this side of the International Date Line. As much as I love Japanese art and cinema, I can't bring myself to truly enjoy most Japanese games. I've yet to determine why, mostly because I can't force myself to play a Japanese game long enough to understand it
Lucky for us, Microsoft is still pouring millions into the XBox, while Sony's decided to cut their game output by a third. We'll catch up, slowly, but surely ...

WOW! I saw some articles about Advent Rising in gaming magazines and it looks AMAZING! It's basically like an action/RPG. You can develop your character depending on how you go through the game. Also, you have to make choices throughout the game that affect the ending - and the sequels!
Xbox or PC, I have to get it. The only reason it's not coming out on PS2 is that the PS2 wouldn't be able to handle this graphically intense game built on the Unreal Engine.

You can't even play the XBox for more than 2 hours without risk of damage. You can leave a PS2 on for a week straight and not risk damaging it(my cousin tried it). And I'd take Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy over HALO, any day of the week.

Although I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for Mario (and therefore Nintendo...), I have to say that while I don't actually own any gaming systems, I enjoy PS2 the most. There's one very simple reason for this: DDR. Not the pesticide, no, it's Dance Dance Revolution. "Rock on!"

DDR = how Amka works out. All the fun of a tetris like puzzle game and aerobic excercise in the privacy of your own home. Not sure about the other versions, but Max even tracks your workouts and weightloss over time, and gives you calories burned.
