Hey all, I'm going to get OSC's writing book called How To Write Science Fiction and Fantasy. I was wondering if any of you have it and what you think of it? Cheers.

he actually has two, Characters and Viewpoint is the other one.

They're both excellent. I like Characters and Viewpoint better, but that's because my weak spot is character development.

Ni!

It's sitting on my floor waiting to be returned to the library currently. I thought it was interesting, but since I don't write, it didn't really affect me in any way.

I have read both, and I think both are very helpful to writers. Lots of good advice on how to avoid common writing mistakes (not that it's totally going to stop us from making them anyway!) And I like the MICE approach-very useful.

Both good books. Read them. Re-read them. Then write.

Today I had one of my ideas from the idea session at last year's "Uncle Orson's Writing Class" burble to the top of my head where I took the "what" of the idea and asked "why" and got a very interesting answer. A few more what/why's have come by, and it's helping flesh the story out a lot.

I might even do some writing on it when I'm not busy in these darn forums.

Take care,
Blain
