Has anyone read this book yet? It's really great and has 3 awesome stories that hope you to better understand the Ender series. If anyone has, I wonder what you think about it?

I got it a couple days ago and really enjoyed it. Every time I go to the mall with my friends I always have to stop at the book store to check the Star Wars Section and the OSC section. Unfortunatly it's got me wanting to read the Ender series again (it's been about 6 years since I read it) and the four ender series books seem to be the only OSC books I can't seem to locate. Yes, I have I thought it was really good, but I was sort of dissapointed in the Ender's Game short story. It wasn't nearly as good as anything else I'd read by Card. On the other hand, it gave me hope that maybe I could be as good an author as he is someday.
I think the main problem with me spending as much time as I do at hatrack is that I know pretty much everything he's written, so now I know I've read almost all of it (I don't read horror) which makes me very sad. Posted by pooka (Member # 5003) on :
I'm looking forward to the paperback that is supposed to come out soon with a fourth story in it, about Theresa Wiggin. I was thinking about her story a lot, it will be interesting to see.

I hope you're not including Lost Boys in with 'horror' because, awful inappropriate cover art aside, it's not Horror at ALL. Neither is Homebody really. Supernatural suspense, yes, but Horror? Nah.

Sorry, but I've heard enough stories from people who had to sleep with the light on for a month, or outright couldn't sleep for a month after reading those two books that I'm not biting.

Lost Boys scared me so much. That'll teach me to relate stories to real life. My next door neighbors were very similar to the Fletchers. So now Im watching the oldest boy's every move, making sure he doesn't talk to any weird old men. Yeah.....that was scary, but I wouldn't call it horror. I don't do horror either, usually, but I really liked Lost Boys

I thought I had already purchased/read every single work by OSC until I subscribed to this forum. Some of these works you talk about I have never heard of! Like Lost Boys??
I just finished Shadow Puppets (which I thought was a new release) -- very good. I think in some ways I liked the Bean series better than the Ender series.
In fact, I haven't found any of his works I really don't like yet, except maybe Songmaster -- I just didn't get it, I guess. I read the whole thing and when I finished it I was kind of numb, like "what was that all about?"
Does the Hatrack site here have a comprehensive listing of everything he's written, so I can compare it against my personal collection?

Go to the OSC Library. I think it has basically all of his books that are in print right now, although to find out-of-print books, you might have to ask an expert. (And I'm sure that, being on the OSC website, there are none of those here.) But you definately need to get updated on those books girl!

Plenty of folks on hatrack have read everything he's written. I think I've probably read %80 of his novels, and %10 of his short stories. There are too many books out there to read, and OSC isn't really my favorite author.
A couple of his books, however, rank among my favorites. Lost Boys especially.

Fitz, wow, you have alot of posts...but that's not my point. OSC isn't your favorite author??!! *gasps* No, I'm kidding. I realize that it's not very possible for every person in the world to be as obbsessed with the Ender books and the other OSC books as I am. What can I say? Do you like the Ender books? Now, if you answer no to that question, I might get a little upset. But, no matter!!

Tom, this is the "other" side. You can't be popular everywhere.... Plus, wieczorek has only been here two days. Give him time.
Also, I believe CalvinMaker (the Jatraquero, not the book character) has more stuff than is actually listed on this website. If you have any questions regarding OSC's published works, he's your best resource.
As to the original question, I have the new version of First Meetings and have read and enjoyed all the stories. My only real complaint is that I thought the illustrations were entirely pointless, but I wasn't buying it for the illustrations anyway, so I'm not disappointed. I also knew that Teacher's Pest was about JP and Theresa meeting, but I guess I hoped for a little more of Theresa's background, as we had for JP in The Polish Boy. Alas....

Calvin Maker, you really ought to do what I tried to do and make pictures of your collection so others can behold the greatness of it.
Here is some of my stuff that I have been working on, I kind of lost speed but here it is.
I believe I have all of OSC's Omni and Analog original publications.

I like Enders's Game, but I enjoyed Speaker For the Dead and Xenocide a great deal more. COTM was okay, but not great. The Shadow series started off nicely, but failed to hold my interest all the way through. I imagine I'll read the rest of the series, but only because of an interest in what happens to the characters.
Wieczorek hasn't been here long enough to realize that 900 posts is indeed a flimsy amount.
