This is absolutely the most current movie news I could lay hands on, and it's not so much news about the movie as it is about the director. The best Ender's Game movie news I've heard in two years was at an OSC signing of Shadow Puppets. Think he's going on tour with Crystal City? Might be the only way any of us hear the latest on EG:the movie.

MTVNews.com on August 18th, last year:
MTV News

"Wolfgang Petersen has placed 'Batman vs. Superman' on indefinite hold, in order to commence work on the action epic 'Troy' in the spring of next year. According to the director's publicist, Petersen had been developing the two movies simultaneously, and while he still "absolutely" intends to bring the superhero struggle to the big screen, he's moved it down on his list of priorities."

Bad news for fans hotly anticipating Ender's Game: the movie, which doesn't even warrant a mention from the director who is quoted as saying, "Of these two projects I have developed at Warner Bros., I had hoped to make 'Troy' first and am pleased that the scheduling worked out that way. I'm looking forward to directing 'Batman vs. Superman' in the future."

Don't even bother running a search for news on the pre-production of Ender's Game. Fresco Pics hasn't updated their site since they were dished by Ain't It Cool News back in November of 2002. You're better off tracking the progress of 'Batman Vs Superman', which at last report has Academy Award Winning Screenwriter Akiva Goldsman doctoring the Andrew Kevin Walker('Seven') script while Wolfgang Peterson tackles filming 'Troy' in Morroco and Mexico this summer. Troy got on the Warner Brothers fast track ahead of 'Batman Vs Superman' to put the release date (Memorial Day of 2004) in competition with Baz Luhrman's 'Alexander the Great' epic and Vin Diesel's 'Hannibal'.

Warner Brothers is being tight lipped about all of its projects currently under development, so finding information about 'Troy', 'Superman vs. Batman' OR 'Ender's Game' is nearly impossible under all the 'Harry Potter' and 'Matrix' hype. Trust me on this and don't even go looking. I'm a journalist and I've spent about four hours researching tonight and I still haven't come up with more than what I've listed above.

To dredge up the standard Fresco crutch quote, "The longer it takes, the better it's going to be," Ender's Game is bound to be the best sci fi movie this century. And rest assured that with the slew of super hero flicks in development ('Requiem for a Dream' director Darren Aronofsky's 'Batman: Year One,' Hally Berry's 'Catwoman' and the 'Superman Lives!' project with McG of 'Charlie's Angels' fame) Warner Bros. will be keen to keep Peterson working furiously to churn out 'Batman Vs Superman' to stay ahead of the trend. And since it is on hold "indefinately", I'm wondering how long Ender's Game will be on hold for. Infinately??

Well I'll be darned. Here I go looking all over God's green world wide web, and there's a handy compilation right there on Philotic. In any event, I'm glad they shot down Batman vs Superman. This whole comic book movies trend was getting way out of hand anyway.

(and that was one FUNNY April Fool's joke)

I thought it wasn't gonna be Fresco Pics any more. I don't know why I think that, but I thought I read something like that at philotic web or one of their links yesterday.

So I think the answer to your question is pretty clear [Wink]

Although that one didn't fool NEARLY as many people as when we broke the story about OSC publishing the children's book Ender Prequel entitled "Ender's Puppy"...and that was BEFORE he wrote "Polish Boy" and "Teacher's Pest". So you never know...

The Ender's Game/Ender's Shadow movie was one of the questions that I asked OSC during our radio interview. Full details about when you can hear him give the most recent information are here:
http://www.hatrack.com/ubb/cgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=002026

Short version: it's still go, he's taking another pass at the script (currently in at 2 hrs, 30 secs), financial backing is a slippery and wily beastie.
