I have read all of the Ender Series (up to Children of the Mind and Shadow Puppets) and loved them all. I am looking for a good book to read. I am a 9th grader but probably would be able to read up to a 11th grade level with a dictionary. Do you suggest a different book written by Card, I haven't tried any of his other books? Or if you have a suggestion of a book you really liked that isn't written by Card go ahead and suggest it.

Almost anything by OSC is a good choice in my opinion, but if you are looking for other authors, you might like Jumper by Steven Gould. He has several other very good books, but I found that one to be most Card-like. Helm, by the same author is also pretty good, but much longer. Helm reminded me of Treason, by OSC.
Rewind, by Terry England, is another good choice in this vein.
Charles Sheffield also has many good books (and some that are not quite as great). One in particular that I recommend is Between the Strokes of Night. (I'm not positive if it's still in print, but it's great.) His Jupiter series of Young Adult novels is also good, in the same way as Robert Heinlein juveniles were for many of us older hatrackers (but the Sheffield juveniles won't seem as cheesy as the Heinlein ones to a modern reader).
Sheffield's wife, by the way, is Nancy Kress. I think she shares a lot of the same qualities that make Card great, although she can be more pessimistic in outlook. I would also compare her more to the OSC who wrote Speaker for the Dead than to the OSC who wrote Ender's Shadow, if that steers you in a particular direction. If you read her, I would encourage you to try Maximum Light before her much more famous Beggars series. Not that the Beggars series isn't great--it is. But it's somewhat heavier reading, and this standalone will give you more of a chance to decide if you like her stuff before jumping into a trilogy (or however many books the Beggars series is up to).
Oh, and Joe Haldeman. Forever War is great, and I liked one of the "sequels" as well, but I found the other one cheesy. Unfortunately, since they are all titled Forever _____, I can no longer remember which one I liked! 1968 is also good . . . it is related thematically, though it is not science fiction.

If you are looking for another Card book/series. I would have to suggest the Alvin Maker Series that starts with seventh son. Although I love Enders game, I would have to classify it as my favorite book, the Alvin books are, in my opinion, the best series OSC has done.

Yes, all the "Women of Genesis" series [SARAH, REBBEKA and I'll bet the one he is working on now, LEAH AND RACHEL] are the best he has done yet, for my money. But, they are not for everyone. As Card himself has said, "If you really don't believe in God you will not be comfortable with these books." Hmm... I do believe in God, but I wasn't precisely 'comfortable' with "Rebekah" cause my views differ a bit OSC's, and yet I really like the book. I'd reccomend anybody who can set aside bias and read about fantastic characters in an intricate(grmr?) plot.

Stone Tables was so very moving...that's in my top three favorite Card books.
I second the votes for Enchantment and I'll add one for Lovelock.
Was it just me, or did others find it rather difficult to 'get into' Pastwatch? I had to start it two or three times to finally get all the way through it, and when I finally did, I LOVED it. But, through it all, this has been the only Card book that I've been able to put down for hours and days at a time without feeling the magnetic pull...you know? It's a great book though.

I couldn't put Pastwatch down. I absolutely loved it. The only OSC book that ever failed to grab me at all was Lovelock. It won't stop me from reading the sequel, when and if it comes out, though, in the hopes that it eventually does grab me.

Well in my opinion a good book to read after the ender series would be Lost Boys,the Alvin Maker series, and personally anything by Michael Crichton. Crichton's more thriller science fiction than anything else but in all of his books he pretty researched the areas he talks about.

I have not read the "women of genisis" books but they are on my to read list. But along the same biblical/faith driven content, if this is interesting to you, I would have to highly recomend Frank Peretti. All of his novel are good but his absolute best are THis Present Darkness and Piercing the Darkness. Very strong spiritual content and just great action.

Sure, Frank Perretti is good, but for those who want EXPLICIT Christian content (as distinct from implicit)Madeline L'Engle is the very best. I nearly chose her, not Card, to write about, but there are already some good books about her.

I would agree, Peretti definately is a fiction writer. He bases his writing on the idea of a strong christian faith and creates a very unique way that faith is carried out in the world. I think that is why I enjoyed his Darkness books so much. I liked the idea of the spiritual wars being manifested on earth, pitting true faith and prayer against false religion. These are definately strong spiritual books even though he takes a bit of artistic license with the way he expresses that spirituality.
