I recently got my copy of Maps In a Mirror back from the friend I loaned it to right after I finished reading it, back 1991 or so. The dust cover is a bit tattered in once place, but the book itself is in good shape. Is it a first edition? I don't have it with me, but when I was looking at the page with all the identifying information on it, I saw that it said "First Printing Oct. 1990", or something to that effect. Does that mean that my copy is in fact a first edition? If so, anybody have any idea how much it would be worth? I'm not interested in selling it, but I'm always curious to know the value of something like that. How much more would it be worth if I had OSC sign it? What about if I just got one of his signed book plates and stuck it on (or whatever you do with signed bookplates)?

Not only is that a first edition. It's the only edition so far. There is another edition (paperback, I believe) scheduled to come out sometime in the near future, but it hasn't happened yet. As for pricing, I have no idea. Sometimes copies pop up on Ebay, but I don't know how much they go for.

Mine actually says 'First edition: October 1990,' so I don't know if 'First Printing' indicates the same thing. Also, there was another version available previously -- a trade paperback. My sister has one. Don't know if that helps.

I was just quoting from memory, Moose, and got it wrong. Mine says the same thing that yours does.

Interesting about the trade paperback; I wasn't aware that it existed.
