I need something to read. I'm really in the mood to read something Robin McKinley-ish, but I've already read most of her stuff. Does anyone know of similar stuff I could read?

In the Long Russian Stories thread I was talking about War and Peace. I guess it was recommended to me by one of my first acquaintances who ever turned out to be gay (boyfriend's brother when I was 18). It occurred to me I've never gotten anyone else to read it. So read that, or Anna Karenina. IMHO.

Robin McKinley . . . she's the one who wrote The Hero and The Crown, right?

Um . . . have you read Tamora Pierce's Alanna series? They're geared towards a younger audience, but they're actually pretty mature. The writing's not excellent, but it's not terrible either.

For something intended towards a more mature audience, I'd recommend Molly Cochran's Arthur series- The Forever King and The Broken Sword.
