I'm a Polish fan, first time in this forum so please forgive me any language mistakes, and probably, writing about things well known to other users. I just wanted to thank the author...

Yesterday i bought myself "Ender's Shadow" and "Shadow of the Hegemon" and just a couple of minutes ago i've finished reading the second of them. I must admit i am really impressed with Bean as a hero and really sad because of his dark future. Some time ago, after i've read Xenocide i said that no other author can annoy me as much as OSC does with the characters he creates, it was exactly the same with Lovelock. I am really, relly grateful though for these books and i must admit that i enjoyed every second spent on reading them.

After four years from publication i can finally say - thank you Orson Scott Card 'cause your books are extremely important to me and the characters you create become part of my life. Thank you for all the inspiration you gave me.

You need to read the newest issue of NF, with Card's short story, "Theresa".

Remigiusz? [ROFL]

Now, Kamilla, it's really not nice to make fun of those with, ah, unique names. [No No]

I couldn't read a word of Nowa Fantastyka but I really loved the picture. [Smile]

Hmmm, "Nowa Fantastyka" ("Fantastyka" before the fall of communism} was the magazine that introduced me to Sci-fi. My dad used to buy every single issue, since its beginning in 1982, I think. I started with the comic pages. They then had a magazine for children, which I used to read, and then I finally got big enough to read the actual stories and novels.

Somewhere around 1990 (?) NF published "Ender's Game" (the novel - they spread it into 3 or 4 issues).

I must say I don't read it as often as I used to - I now prefer books to short stories, and I don't always approve of their choice of the stories, either - but it fulfilled its function really well [Smile]

Siddy, Siddy, Siddy, (unless you hate the nickname,)

I need desperate help from a master GameDesigner(TM) [why in God's name can't I just write "game designer"?), I'm trying to build a Game; and since I can't trust EA to make it for me I need to study programming myself.

One flaw - my current state only allows me to write little funny messages in web pages: e.g., "What is yo

Jonathan Howard

P.S. I get the "John Howard" bit too, especially since I'm an Aussie. But unlike Siddy and yourself, I despise JH.

Okay, you do know I'm not the Sid Meier, but since I am in Programming I will tyr to help you as best as I can. (Which is not much I'm only a beginner) SO I'm not a master game designer yet.
But this is what I can tell you:
1- Try learning C++ and Java they are the most popular gaming programming languages.
2- Work very long and hard, it may take a while, and it won't be much fun but at the end it is worth it.
3- Save up money and buy the manuals, preferably Problem Solving with C++ and C++ for dummies. You may want to enroll in a Gaming college (only if you want this as a career)
So if your doing this just as something on the side I suggest getting some friends to help you. I myself is trying to make a game. So the best thing to do while learning a language is to downlaod and use RM2K3 it's a rpg maker and gives you practice in understanding plot development and such.
I hope any of this could help you.

One more thing; RM2K3 is a drag and drop kind of thing but it's kinda fun. You can process the games you make and share it with your friends.
