On the cover of sotg if u think about it you will relise that it is bean. Now at a much older age(16-20). Soon bean will die of couse. But the relation to "Giant" in the title is to Bean. He is now a giant. Growing. Im thinking that the book will be like Puppets. Going from character to character. All being important in the book.

Welcome to Hatrack, Postman. [Smile]

Yes, I think you are right about that being Bean.

Doesn't Petra have brown hair?

Unless Armineans are naturally blonde [Smile]

Edit: What I'm saying is I'm not sold on it being Bean.

well dont it make sense how bean now makes the shadow. First it was Ender's, then Peter's, and third how Achilles was making shadows for himself, and now the shadow belongs to Bean. Because he is now the giant that antons key turned him into.

Shadow isn't necessarily used literally. If Peter makes the office of Hegemon as powerful as it used to be, he will be a giant in his own way and the whole world will be in his shadow. If I remember correctly, OSC said somewhere that the titles in this series don't necessarily refer to any particular person. Sometimes they refer to someone, sometimes multiple people, and sometimes it's unclear.

Also, for SotG you don't just have to consider who the giant is, but who/what is the shadow (or being overshadowed or whatever).

I think you all are reading way to much into the title. It's just a title. Bean is a giant and all the titles in the Bean series have the word shadow in them. That's it. [Roll Eyes]

I agree. OSC wanted to call the first book Urchin, but the marketing people said it must have the name Ender in it. I'm sure that now theyve made him put Shadow in all of them.
