How does this work? What happened with the two other guys that were signed to do it? Once you are signed to write a screenplay, why would you end up not doing it?

I would disagree. Completely. But I never know how much of a film to attribute to the writer, and how much to attribute to all the other factors involved.

Hopefully EG will turn out better.

It's been over a year since the last time we;ve heard any news?

The thing I hated most about the screenplay for Troy was that it was so damn humourless and earnest. There was very little humour or humanity anywhere. There were hardly any moments during the epicness of it all where, as in 'Lord of the Rings', you just had a moment to look at these people being totally themselves, even under pressure and think, 'God, I hope nothing happens to him!'. Personally, I was just waiting for them to all die so I could go home.

Admittedly, they could have written hundreds of such moments in developing the screenplay and had them all cut out later, but since it's also the same director, even that is not a comforting thought.

(I was horribly disappointed by Troy. Can you tell? [Wink] )

I wonder what happened to the X2 screenwriters.

this means the movie hits screen fall 2980..

letsall board our starships and travel for a week....

I'm almost wondering if the X2 writers were just signed on to rewrite OSCs screenplay and thats it. As far as I understand screenplays undergo rewrites up to four/five times before it's called "good."

So in this version of EG, Ender and Petra switch places, and Ender dies instead of Stilton.....

SUPERMAN happened to them. WB thought that was a property that deserved more immediate attention than ENDER, and drafted 'em.

if they cast that no-talen hack from Star Wars ep.1 as Ender I'm going to give up on film as a valid artistic medium.

I'm with you Ramdac. If they cast Ewan McGregger as Ender, I'll be protesting right there with you.

Or wait, did you mean someone else?

[Wink]

Ooo...I'd watch anything with Ewan McGregor.

anything? even "A Life Less Ordinary" [Laugh]

He's obviously a prodigy in his own right. I think he'd be perfect for Ender.

Hey, Ramdac - where did you go? You should totally post more.

On the other side. Where the cool kids hang out.

Posted by Ramdac99 (Member # 7264) on :

thanks Ralphie, it's nice to feel appreciated, actually I took a temporary hiatus and I am currently reading The Worthing Saga, postponing my completion of the Shadow series until this Michigan winter lets up. I'm sure you will have to deal with my verbose self-important posts on the other side soon enough. Ya know I do it for the kids. ^_^

I'm sure the little putz is too old to play Ender by now.

God I hope you are correct Pirate, I would hate it if I had to do something drastic [Evil]

I never did see Troy.

You get to see a lot of Brad Pitt's butt from what I remember. It seems like he walks around naked more than clothed... not that I'm complaining, he is eye candy, if not perhaps my favorite eye candy. But it might not fit your LDS sensibilities.

AJ (rotfl, and that's what I remember... forget the plot...)

why would Ewan McGreggor play ender? that guy is in his 20's or 30's

Posted by AntiCool (Member # 7386) on :

That OK if they go ahead and have Dwayne Johnson play Bean.

Posted by LilBee91 (Member # 7475) on :

I can see it now...the Rock crawling through vents...naked.
Ok that would be disgusting...

I regret to admit how much I am highly anticipating the EG movie. I regret it because I am so scared that they won't do as good a job as I did in my head.

That being said, I believe that it could match Star Wars for one of the best sci-fi movies of all time. Plus, if it does well they will decide to adapt the Shadow series, which IMHO would make for better film.
