Dont you that Pequeninos are quite similar to those little furry creatures that inhabited the moon (dont recall its name) in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi? Thay lived in a forest and dwelled on the trees. Perhaps those two have something incommon?

oh, the little fuzzy guys! ewoks, or something like that.

anyways, i got a more ... "porcine" and pig-like image for the piggies in my head instead of the fuzzy, teddy-bear look of the star wars guys.

its all up to your own imagination tho!

How can you not recall the name "Ewoks"?! They had their own cartoon show and even movies in the 80s! What's wrong with you?

I'm just kidding [Big Grin]
The piggies seem more intelligent to me, and certainly less annoying.

Oh, the ewoks? They are close to the most annoying creatures I know. Cute teddybears clubbing stormtroopers, knocking them unconscious with a little stick.
Anyhow, I think of the pequinos as almost/completely hairless and more... porcine or whatever word fits.

If you played the computer game Diablo II, I pictured the pequeninos somewhat like the little guys in the third act, just much less violent [Smile] . Seemed to fit in with the athletic ability, but thats just my take.

Yeah, they are annoying. But the first time they were described, still on Trondheim, when Jane was changing one into a small monster. And I watched SW:RotJ just before reading this chapter. Not for the first time, of course [Smile] And it sort of sticked to my image of them. Althoug I add a big nose sticking out.. Looks funny [Smile] Especially when you vivisect them [Wink] and psychoanalize them.

Um, no. I don't picture "piggies" like Ewoks at all. I picture them more like pigs. Although bipedal, and a bit cuter. I think there was some fan art on the Philotic Web that pretty much echoed my imaginal ideal of the piggies.

If somebody really thinks I wrote Ewoks into a novel of mine, I'll have no choice but to kill myself.

Because it's too late to kill the filmmakers before they actually created Ewoks.

Unless I go back in time to prevent the worst thing that ever happened in film history ... though, come to think of it, that would be

<choking sounds as time traveller strangles Card before he can reveal the worst movie ever made>

The real question is what is worse; Ewoks or Jar-Jar Binks? And why hasn't anyone taken precautionary steps to prevent more evil alien creatures like them from coming into existence?

Posted by Meshugener (Member # 7601) on :

...did anyone else notice that somehow OSC could type about him getting killed while he was getting killed?

*horde of people telling me to not take things so seriously bursts through door and strangles me*

MAYNARD: It reads, 'Here may be found the last words of Joseph of
Aramathea. He who is valiant and pure of spirit may find the
Holy Grail in the Castle of uuggggggh'.
ARTHUR: What?
MAYNARD: '... the Castle of uuggggggh'.
BEDEVERE: What is that?
MAYNARD: He must have died while carving it.
LAUNCELOT: Oh, come on!
MAYNARD: Well, that's what it says.
ARTHUR: Look, if he was dying, he wouldn't bother to carve
'aaggggh'. He'd just say it!
MAYNARD: Well, that's what's carved in the rock!
GALAHAD: Perhaps he was dictating.
ARTHUR: Oh, shut up. Well, does it say anything else?
MAYNARD: No. Just, 'uuggggggh'.

If you have not seen this movie, I reccomend you get it, if only to have claimed to see the worst Japanese animated film ever created in the history of ever.

Armageddon

It must not be the worst, however, since I'm alive to post it. It's the worst I've ever seen.

I'd like to see Lucas try to have the Ewoks "plant" each other like the Piggies. Then I'd forgive the cute, fuzzy sideshow.

I always thought that piggies looked more or less like this...

I always hated ewoks...I had to wait until Star Wars Battle Front to blow up those furry little suckers.

ChaThe (or do you go by OsRy?) that really is almost exactly what I envisioned when I invented pequeninos. Seriously. Great drawing, great imaging.

Posted by ChaosTheory (Member # 7069) on :

Thank you but I didn't draw it...I found it at http://www.ender.com/ender/ but it was the most accurate drawing to my perception of a piggy.

Edit: Oh and I have no idea who OsRy is. [Confused]

OSC called you ChaThe or Chaos Theory shortened. Osry would be the other half (mostly) of ChaThe to make up Chaos Theory. [Wink]

Piggies as Ewoks. I can not understand that theory at all except they both live in forests and are part of a series that involves space. I, for one, am glad I did not make that connection as it might have put a damper on on making the jump that the piggies were intelligent.

No. They look like Gremlins. And NOBODY's going to change that.

*grabs ears and sings loud*

I was halfway through SftD before I realised my mental picture of the piggies was way too humanoid. Comes from watching too much Star Trek.

Posted by Suri-cool (Member # 7599) on :

Ewoks rule but they are too fuzzy. Piggies are more sleek skinned. Also I imagined them sorta like that picture but less fat and more deatlied expression.

Although I can't find a good picture...

I have to admit, I kind of pictured the pequeninos like the evil pigs from the playstation game "Tomba."

I have one question about the pequeninos. It's been driving me nuts since I read the books.

After the virus crashed into their planet and the biosphere died off and all the DNA started recombining, how did they know to cut each other up to plant trees that stayed intelligent?

Come on, Return of the Jedi is the GOOD part of Star Wars. It's clearly Jar Jar Binks and friends that you should be using all that money to go back in time and strangle. Anyway, strangling a creature such as Jar Jar Binks would be much more satisfying then strangling a fuzzy teddy bear, eh?

My husband actually likes Jar Jar Binks. This is something we never discuss , because to do so would ruin our marriage.

Posted by Eisenoxyde (Member # 7289) on :

I always pictured them as having small pot bellies with multiple carries sticking out a little and also being mostly hairless but having shaggy, coarse hair on various parts of their bodeies.

Posted by jeeshkid (Member # 9885) on :

I thought of them as pigs on hind legs. (I know, not creative)

Posted by RunningBear (Member # 8477) on :

I thought of them like the picture, but shorter, and with hair similar to an otters, very packed. I always felt the heads would be more dog/pig like as well.

Maybe like bipedal groundhogs.

Don't worry...I'm not too creative either. I too pictured pigs walking on hind legs. But more like brown pigs than pink pigs.

Posted by Feer (Member # 9846) on :

I pictured them as a smaller version of the Hell Knights from the original Doom. well without the glowing firey green stuff.

Posted by Ecthalion (Member # 8825) on :

i kinda pictured a satyr with kinda a warthog face and coarse hair with a maine down its back. feet and hands differ from hooves to hands...

Posted by Ecthalion (Member # 8825) on :

i must also say... OSC has piqued my interest on what movie he thinks is the worst movie of all time...

Jarhead and Ultraviolet get my nomination..

Frankly, I pictured the pigs as furry.

As a matter of fact, I can only picture them looking like Alf.

Maybe I need to use my imagination a bit more. Ha!
