I was reading through the forums and i realized how many people Loved vidio games here(including OSC). So i was just wondering if OSC played any X-box games. My favorites are Halo 2 Splinter Cell Chaos theory and Star wars reble commander. Star craft for computer is ok but real old. on another topic (thogh almsot the same) OSC do you play Risk or my favorite Axis and Allies. (I love holding Europe becease of its Strategical location and borders).

I read somewhere about some guy who loved Risk and reinvented the rules... my mind is associating it with OSC for some reason; I may be very wrong.
On a game related note, (I know you didn't ask ME, but...) my favorite games include Deus Ex: Invisible War and Thief III for the X-Box. I like how there are always many paths to the same end. Hooray for Looking Glass! Also, Thief III's environments are very cool.'
I also like Halo (mindless slaughter! Yay!) Halo 2 (Mindless Slaughter 2! Where's the ending?) and Morrowind (Thank you for bringing this thingie to me from across the entire island. Now please go back to where you came from with this other thingie. When you're done with that, go to this unknown place in this vague direction over somewhere near the bottom half of the continent. I've been playing Act of War: Direct Action, it's interesting, but RTS games aren't suppose to be this flashy. But I consider it to be one of these new age RTS games. The sexification of RTS, or whatever.
I'm looking forward to EMPIRE EARTH 2, which is coming soon.
All time favorites: Civilization*, Imperium Galactica, C&C Generals, and Axis and Allies has been working its way up there.

How about combining Risk and Stratego to completly get rid of dice and all form of luck pretty much? Sure, one game would go on for a year, but it'd be interesting.

How does OSC play risk? Is there I dont know a webpage or soemthing with his modified rules?
I play Hearts of Iron 2 (reminds me of the shaodw books in a way), Lineage 2, FPS's like Call of duty, and the BF series. Axis and Allies for both the computer (both new and old versians) and Risk I used to play all the time last semester but now I dont have the time blah. I like Starcraft, Startrek Armada II, and ST: Starfleet Command III.

I play Age of empires (A classic...), Age of mithology, Imperium, Starcraft, Imperium (roman war), cossacks, Hearts of Iron, Caesar III, Colonization and Civilization (II and III) normally. I prefer in pc because with the mouse is more easy to direct to many units.
And in the table... Risk, scatergorys, scrabble, incógnito and cards (magics or spanish, all is well!!!)

In that list, only Starcraft and Risk are really worth spending time on, imo. If anyone wants to play 1v1 Starcraft, let's go.

Have you guys ever played Diplomacy? I thought that was truly the best board strategy game I've ever seen. Much better than Risk- it's all about who trust, when to trust- the whole point of the game is that: Diplomacy. Set in pre WWI Europe, and has actually showed me the importance of Geographical importance like I learn in history and learned about it firsthand- like Belgium, or how Germany can fend off England and France on its own as long as its not in a two-front war.

Dip does have truly excellent rules, but it's rather slow. And needing seven players is a definite weakness; plus, if you get badly stabbed in the first few years, you're going to be sitting about for the rest of the game with nothing much to do.

Best game I play right now is Day of Defeat. It's as if you're actually fighting in WWII. The guns are realistic. The M1 you have to wait till you empty the magazine and then it springs out with the same sound as the real gun. They all have their weakness and strengths. It's not one of those games where you can just run around and kill people. You have to think your way through it and work with your team to achieve your objectives. You can be a one man army and I usually go that way, but having friends to play with that you can talk to is much better. Course when Advent comes out I might get that game and DOD can go to hell.

Those are mine right now.
I remember making some minor changes to rules in risk, we had railroads, so you could move armies through contigous countries that you control for your free move at the end of a turn.

Halo 2 and Risk are definitely my games of choice. It's amazing how much strategy from OSC's books can be used in Halo 2 if the team is big enough. Too bad you can't freeze players' bodyparts. Risk definitely reminds me of the shadow series with Bean and Peter looking for global conquest. More recently I've been playing Doom 3 though and that's just point and shoot into shadows at horrific monsters.

Doom 3 can actually kind of freak you out if you play at night with the lights out. Seriously... you wouldnt think a video game could actually be scary, but doom 3 was.
I couldnt play it for more than about an hour or hour and a half at a sitting.

yeah i definitely know the feeling. It seriously is a freaky game. I can't play it for too long at a time either. I think it raises my blood pressure levels insanely high.

You want a nice scary game in the dark? Alien vs. Predator 2(AvP2). Play the marine campaign at 3 am with headphones and no lights on. It's enough to make a grown man do something that a grown man wouldn't normally do.

Thief was pretty scary in places, listening to the zombies shuffle and moan outside your hiding place when you only had one holy water bottle left.

I agree that AvP2 is fun. I like doing the survival thing where you get a gun and see how long you can last. <Grin> <Evil Chuckle>
My brother got all jumpy playing half life, kept killing the scientists.
I'm curious how does not having troops in interior territories stop blitzkriegs and lucky streaks. Also what happens then if an enemy punches through the defenders front line do they automatically win the empty territories? I love risk and would be curious to learn these rules.
