Ever since OSC posted that he was writing a new book with Ender as the main character I've been psyched. It'll be great if it spans the time when he first wrote The Hive Queen and became the Speaker for the Dead. That part was interesting to me but it was sort of scimmed accross in the "Speaker for the Dead" chapter at the end of Enders Game. It's kind of a bummer that it will probably have to take place pre-Jane but all your Jane questions were probably answer in Children of the Mind. Don't get me wrong I am also geeked for the post-CotM novel, but a young Ender focused novel will be soooooo money.

Maybe its just me, but I've always wanted OSC to write out parts of Speaker for the Dead (Ender's actual book) and the Hive Queen and the Hegemon... I think there is just a lot of potential about the history of the buggers and Ender's feels that do sort of go left unaddressed that this could fill in. Hopefully his new book will do so.

I've always wanted OSC to rewrite Ender's Game and sell it as the original just to see how many people notice. Oh, he could sell a book that occurs after the book that occurs after COTM that is filled completely with blank pages so we could all see that the prior book was REALLY the end! Then, being the only person to buy the blank book I would go to every signing and have him sign every page! THAT would be sweet!

I kind of like the fact that he leaves so much of the text of the Hive Queen and the Hegemon open. It leaves the simplicity of the message that was conveyed by the followers there, uncorrupted by words sort of. Sometimes things left to the imagination are that much better, then again if OSC, the dude, Mr. Card., etc., etc., did feel like including more of the texts, that would be great.

jongo, you're exactly right. By not writing (and NEVER writing) my pathetic version of Hive Queen and Hegemon, I can tell you that these are brilliant, magical books that absolutely transform the world. If I wrote them, then you'd read them and think, "Oh, is that all? Well, if these books are so magical and wonderful, why aren't they changing the world NOW?"

For the same reason, no composer will ever be able to write Christian Haroldson's songs, and no one will be able to sing the part of Ansset in an opera.
