I have a question. I'm reading Shadow of the Giant, and Peter's compound is in Ribeirao Preto. I was wondering if that is where OSC went on his mission? Does anyone know?

Yes. You will find that a lot of OSC's primary locations are places he has been.

Thank you. My son is serving a mission there right now and when I read the name of the city, I thought there must be a connection to OSC. My son is a fan, so he'll think it's pretty cool, too.

It doesn't seem to me that much of the "screen time" of the Shadow books takes place in China.

I know that OSC went on his mission to Brazil. I don't know where in Brazil.

"Yes" was in reference to your original question about whether he served in Ribeirão Preto or not. For those that haven't read his bio here is a blurb:
