I was reading a topic in this forum about Purity and a few other misclenneous things, but I heard a quote from 'Papa Moose' that drew my attention.

Quote:

There are two short stories thus far (in Legends I and II), but there was to be a third, in which Alvin and Arthur travel to Crystal City, Tennizy (sp?) and meet the "White Prophet." Whether or not the Verily/Purity relationship will be covered in that, or if that will wait for Master Alvin (seventh and final novel), we don't know for sure.

He mentions something about short stories called 'Legends'. Maybe I haven't been around enough to hear about it, but what is he talking about?

Legends and Legends II are books of short stories that take place in the worlds of many fantasy worlds.

'He' is talking about collections of short stories edited by Robert Silverberg. Check here for the first one -- you'll have to search for the second, as I'm short on time right now.

"The Yazoo Queen" in Legends II, quite without my meaning to, turned into a MUCH better opening for Crystal City than I had planned. So much better that I wanted to steal it from Legends II and use it as chapter 1. But the deadline for Legends II was already upon me. So I began Crystal City immediately AFTER "Yazoo Queen," and left it to function as a kind of chapter zero.

The Alvin story in Legends I is "Grinning Man," in which Davy Crockett and Alvin and Arthur meet. That one was just a lark, and doesn't fit into the series in any particular place.
