Okay, I joined the forum just for this question. I have searched the internet and the site for ages, yet all I can gleen is the second book of the Lovelock trilogy is on indefinite hold. Mr. Card was not satisfied with book two. Is this true? Will there be a book two?

As far as I know there will be a book two (as well as a third), but he has other things on his plate at the moment. We'll probably have to wait until both he and Kathryn Kidd (if I'm remembering correctly) have the time.

I'd be willing to bet that the second novel ("Rasputin", right?) just ain't gonna happen. What can you do if you've got two writers with diverging opinions?

To me, it seems like a whole lot of work for half the cash. Can you blame him for setting it on the back burner?

I doubt money is the issue. But it's too bad that we'll likely never see Rasputin. It's been 10 years and I still love that book.

Why would money _not_ be an (if not "the") issue? This is a business. It's what allows Scott to eat and, dare I say, maintain this messageboard for all of us.

I meant it is probably not the primary issue. My guess is that time is probably the bigger issue. Now money is obviously related to that. You will make time for more lucrative projects.

In the end, that's just speculation. But I like to think that there was more incentive to telling this tale than simply to make a buck.

Unless Mr. Card has cloned himself he really has a full plate now. He has two incomplete series (Ender's and Alvin's) a new book out in June, Comicbook, the plot and dialog for a videogame, plays, and soon he will be a college proffessor. Not to mention he has a family to attend to. I don't know where he finds the time to do all of these things but if/when a new lovelock book comes out I'll be happy.
