Funny thing...I pick up a new edition of Enchantment at the bookstore and it says "bestselling author of Magic Street" on the cover. So of course I dash to my computer to see if I've somehow misread the release date of the book, all worked up about how it might be out, and realize I still have eight more days to go. I was strangely relieved and disappointed at the same time. Nice little synopsis/preview of Magic Street in the back of my Enchantment book, though. Guess they're betting it'll do well.

They rereleased Enchantment - my only other novel with DelRay - in order to help support the sales of Magic Street. And it only makes sense to release the promotion BEFORE the thing being promoted <grin>.

Since the bookstores were lax about adhering to the laydown date on Giant, they may do the same with Magic Street, so it might hit SOME stores before the 28 June pub. date.

Ooooh, good tip.

I'm gonna check B&N today then, just in case.

I'm waiting on this one with baited breath myself. Scott, has there been an audio recording yet? I'd love to give it a listen if it is ready.

Did they re-release Enchantment in paperback, or hardback? (I'm still trying to collect hardback editions of everything)

The new edition I just got was a trade paperback, $14.95 at my local Borders.

New releases are usually hardback. I like paperback because I write in my books...yes, all of them.

I can't wait for Magic Street!

No trade paperback, no hardback at B&N in Lafayette, so no one else bother.

I did, however, pick up the new Dean Koontz book, and two paperbacks.

This is why I shouldn't be allowed in bookstores unattended.

I know, I checked for it at Powell's tonight and it wasn't there yet...so I picked up a copy of Pastwatch, a book I did not own yet. [Smile]

I saw the trade paperback of Enchantment at the teensy tiny Waldon's at the mall. I want Magic Street, though. (It comes out the day after I leave for vacation. [Frown] )

I want Magic Street, too.

I hear Entertainment Weekly is going to give me my first-ever review in their pages with Magic Street. I dread it, though, because I'm assuming that I'll get the "sci-fi writer gets too uppity and must be slapped down" review - or maybe the "supported the war and therefore must be found to be a bad writer" review that I got a few times with Giant.

Shouldn't worry about such things, of course - especially because ANY mention in a major national publication is better than no mention at all, which is the usual treatment.

I just hope they don't go mining the "cover blurbs we'll never see" topic here to find cool things to say about the book ...
