Scott, have you ever considered writing nautical fiction along the lines of Forester's Hornblower series or O'Brian's Aubrey and Maturin series? I, for one, would love to see you take a stab at a shippy novel.

But the point is, the Hornblower series and O'Brian's books EXIST. I have no interest in duplicating their research - that's hard work. Instead I remain a devoted member of their audience.

Let Robin Hobb write about her Liveships ... she does splendidly. As for me, I'll go on writing about pathological children ...

I guess I was thinking something from "when the oil runs out". What will civilization be like when there's no oil and, possibly, no "alternate" fuel in such abundance to sustain our current ways of living.
