In reading his books, I've written down a few quotes that I really enjoyed and that have stuck with me since my first reading. These two are some of my favorites:

quote:
"Those who know each other only through symbolic representations are forced to imagine each other. And because their imagination is imperfect, they are often wrong."
Xenocide

quote:
"What a laugh, though. To think that one human being could ever really know another. You could get used to each other, get to habituated that you could speak their words right along with them, but you never knew why other people said what they said or did what they did, because they never even knew themselves. Nobody understands anybody. And yet somehow we live together, mostly peace, and get things done with a high enough success rate that people keep trying... - all without having a clue what's going on inside anybody's head."
Bean, Ender's Shadow

Anyone else have favorite quotes?

Some of those quotes aren't too quote worthy.

Edit: (ones in the database)

"Perhaps it's impossible to wear an identity without becmoing what you pretend to be" Ender's Game (a quote which I think is very true from experience)

"Early to bed and early to rise makes a man stupid and blind in the eyes" Ender's Game. I always liked that one

"I'm a witch. I know these things." - Enchantment

I love how Ivan's mother tells him the truth and he dismisses it as a tall tale!

"I am your enemy, the first one you've ever had who was smarter than you. There is no teacher but the enemy. No one but the enemy will ever tell you what the enemy is going to do. No one but the enemy will ever teach you how to destroy and conquer. Only the enemy shows you where you are weak. Only the enemy tells you where he is strong. And the rules of the game are what you can do to him and what you can stop him from doing to you. I am your enemy from now on. From now on, I am your teacher." ~Mazer

Ender's Shadow:

quote:
Here's the lesson Bean took from his own dream: Don't be one of the scurrying, struggling ants.

Be the shoe.

quote:
We throw ourselves onto the grenade to save our buddies in the foxhole. We rise out of the trenches and charge the entrenched enemy and die like maggots under a blowtorch. We strap bombs on our bodies and and blow ourselves up in the midst of our enemies. We are, when the cause is sufficient, insane.

Some of my favorites from Ender's Game:
(I left out names where I did not find them necessary.)

"They both knew that there was a wall now. [...] For now that they could not be together, they must be infinitely apart, and what had been sure and unshakable was now fragile and insubstantial; from the moment we are not together, he is a stranger, for he has a life now that will be no part of mine, and that means when I see him we will not know each other."

---

Upon defeating Rabbit Army and Carby's being so graceful about it:
"I will remember this, thought Ender, when I am defeated. To keep dignity, and give honor where it's due, so that defeat is not disgrace. And I hope I don't have to do it often."

---

"Although he had never sought power, he had always had it. But he decided that it was a power born of excellence, not manipulation."

---

"We have to go. I'm almost happy here."
"So stay."
"I've lived too long with pain. I won't know who I am without it."
