Sorry if this has been asked before (which i'm pretty sure it has) but I waded through 9 pages of search results before finally resigning myself to making a new thread. Anyway: I used to be a avid reader but over the past two years I've read only rarely, and want to start getting into books again, specifically OSC books. I have read the ender series, the shadow series (except for SotG, which i'm going to read after rereading the earlier books), and the homecoming series. Which series (I want it to be a series) should i start on next, preferrably something relatively easy to get into (don't want to relapse into illiteracy). Thanks a bundle.
Oh yeah, I also wanted to say that it's amazing that the man himself (OSC) is close enough to his fans to post this much, and even ask for ideas. Sorry for rambling, right now i'm thinking too much for my own good.

Personally I enjoyed Enchantment, Magic Street, and Wyrms, which are all single books. Also the Alvin Maker series is good, but you should read the other three first to allow time for OSC to write Master Alvin.

Unless my old brain is addled, it sounds like the only OSC series that you have left to tackle IS the Alvin Maker series. And since you want a series to ease you back into literacy that would be the way to go.
You'll fly through them and then join the ranks of us crazy old folk who spend our time drooling away in anticipation of the NEXT book to come out in any series.
How I envy the reader who is new to OSC and has all those novels to experience for the first time! I love having a whole series to read for the first time!

I have also heard of the worthing saga i think, something with worthing in it, is that an OSC book?

It is a very good book but not a series. It's a collection of short stories. Any of OSC's novels would be a good place to begin reading again but some are not as "popular" as others.
Years ago we had a thread on Hart's Hope which I loved, but I don't think many people agreed with me on that one.

I've been a fan for many years, and I've just started reading Songmaster for the first time. Since my bouts of reading aren't consistent, I actually have several OSC works to read. And I agree with KEGE, because reading Songmaster is like instantly sparking a friendship with someone whom you've only heard about in name, and have never met.
Concurrently I'm reading Maps in a Mirror, and next I'll probably read Lost Boys or Wyrms.

Songmaster is fabulous and I would have suggested it first if trip9 had not been looking for a series.
Wyrms is another of my favorites and Lost Boys is the only book that I've ever read that nearly gave me an emotional breakdown. I can't say anything more about it without spoiling it for you - but be prepared.
Try Hart's Hope also. Unlike many writers, you really can't go wrong with any OSC book.

Yeah, i'm reading maps in a mirror because in borders i read euchemides on the fifth floor (i think that was the name) and loved it so i got it at the library and am reading, then i'm probobly going to read the alvin maker series, what's it about anyway. Also, does anybody know of any good non OSC fantasy? I read the Garth Nix Abhorsen series and loved it, fantasy is my favorite genre and it's been awhile since i've read any outstanding fantasy books. I should probably just shut up and start reading, considering i already have so many books lined up. Thanks again guys.

I like Clive Barker's Abarat books and Diane Duane's Young Wizards series, as far as YA fantasy goes. I'm a big Garth Nix fan, too.

David Eddings has two story worlds, each with two series, both VERY enjoyable.
"His Dark Materials" trilogy by Philip Pullman. They're going to make it into a movie in 2007 so hurry up and read it!

I already read the his dark materials trilogy and really enjoyed them, and to Stone_Wolf_, i heard of the song of fire and ice series and i'm trying to track them down in the library (running on minimum wage).

A Feast for Crows was supposed to be released 7/26/05 - Book 4 but is now coming out 11/10/05 according to Amazon.com from whence I preordered it back in April and was VERY disappointed come July to find I must wait over 3 more months.
The discussion on the other side says that the series will be expanded because the material in Feast was too much and has been split into 2 books the second of which deals with Dany and her side of the planet which will come out next year.
So now would be a good time to get started on A Game of Thrones, Clash of Kings and Storm of Swords which are all out in paperback and quite lengthy. I plan to reread them all before 11/10/05 after I read Magic Street.

I just thought I should let you guys know that I'm currently starting on the fourth Alvin book and am halfway through Maps in a Mirror. Wow is all I can say, it's been forever since I've read anything so satisfying as the Alvin series. Thanks a bundle for all your help.
