First, thank you Mr. Card for writing truly enjoyable stories. I have been an avid Sci-Fi / Fantasy reader for more years than I remember. In all of that time, I have always enjoyed all the various things I have read. Your stories in particular have been very memorable, enjoyable, touching, and delightful. Reading one of your stories is an all around moving experience.

Second, thank you Mr. Card for making this forum available to one and all. I have greatly enjoyed reading the enormous number of conversations. Even the ones in which the participants have been a bit heated on either side of a debate. I really appreciate the dignity and respect, you, your wife, and your associates give to people, even when they have perhaps crossed a boundary or two of courtesy or politeness.

Third, thank you Mr. Card for making available an enormous amount of knowledge and wisdom on how one can become a maker himself or herself. You provide a plethora of resources for those interested in learning to become writers from forums on the subject, to some very informative books to help guide the student in us all.

For all of these generous gifts, I thank you!

Lastly, I was thinking about the way the forums function and how so many people have adopted various names of characters from many of the stories you have written. I then had the thought that it would be very humorous and entertaining to see actual (well as actual as they can be) posts from one or more fictional characters. Have you ever had, or would you consider having, one of your many fictional characters make a virtual appearance on this forum?

Some of his fictional characters came from this forum. Does that count? [Smile]

Also check out Virtual Battle School and Hatrack 1830's for online RPing.

Well, Papa Moose and Mamma Squirrel leap to mind. I also seem to remember that some of the incidental characters in the 4th Alvin Maker book came from the 1830s forum, but I could be wrong about that.

...And some other characters from the Maker series came from users who were around when Hatrack was a part of AOL, I believe. Also, certain parts of the Shadow series were inspired by what people were doing in Virtual Battle School...

**SPOILERS**

The ambush of Achilles in the ducts was the one event I recall.

It sounds an awful lot like what OSC does for work.

Except that he wouldn't get paid anything for this work.
