With apologies to the Sebastian and "Kiss the Girl"
There, you see it There across the Battle room You think it is in front of you But that's not gonna help you
Got to try Reorient your mind Until the Gate is Down
Yes, you want it Gonna try to take their gate Possible they want yours, too There is one way to stop them
You've got to see The battle room so the Enemy's Gate is down
[Sing with me now]
Sha la la la la la, my oh my Don't make it left or right We want to win this fight
Sha la la la la la, in your mind Just turn the room around Until the gate is down

When you're a third You're a third all the way From your first monitor 'til they take you away!
When you're a third and you're brother is whack; you're always in danger until your parents get back.
You're always alone! You're so disconnected. You're always on your own and you're feelin' rejected!
A third feels no sorrow when Graffe says that you'll be launching tomorrow up to battle school.
When you're a third, you stay a third!

There, out in the darkness The hive queen is calling She's creating Jane She's creating Jane In the computer To talk to a boy In the Giant's Cup game In the Giant's Cup game
He knows the ways of the game She knows the ways of the hive If she wants to give buggers' salvation She'll bridge to his mind And if she falls As that giant fell The eggs! The hive!
Jane In the giant game Filling his desktop With weirdness and strange Things from his concious Making him see How to rebuild the hive How to rebuild the hive
Jane knew her place in the game She knows her place in the nets She'll earn the boy Wiggin Returns and returns On investments and bets So when he lands, and Speaks for the Dead, He'll speak with Jane!
And so it has been and so it is written In the Hive Queen And Hegdemon That those who slaughter and those who slay Must regret they won
Let me find a planet That I may populate it That she may reign I will never rest Till then This I swear This I swear by my Jane!

And now, Ender is gone. And so I face the culmination of all my plans, of all my work, my essays and my manipulation.
I've lived my teens in secret and posted on the information superhighway and now, very soon now, I'll conquer my way!
Friends, I've had a few. But then again, too few to mention. I did what I wanted to do And never looked for my redemption.
I planned each subterfuge, each threat, and every parlay and now, very soon now, I'll conquer my way!
Yes there were times I said to Val, "To win, I don't know if I shall." But through it all, when I wasn't sure I'd think it through and write some more. I'm just a kid so I'll stay hid, And conquer my way.

Dag, you should ask Mr. Card if you could indeed write a musical. Though perhaps, it should be a rock opera. It could be performed by some awesome, unknown band to jumpstart their career.

Legally, you'd need some advice. Parody is considered fair use, but the bounds of parody are fuzzy.
Ethically, I think you should ask Mr. Card. His permission would obviate the need for legal advice on the Ender side.
I'm not sure what you'd need to do with the RHPS side. I know it's usually performed in theaters, and this doesn't seem very different. Probably you'd still need legal advice.

I could make all kinds of tactics Using twine and guns of plastic Inside the battle room. And my guys they would be whooping While in zero-G we’re looping If I only had a toon.
I’d out-maneuver every army Without acting smug or smarmy. In battle they would swoon. Due to my sowing of confusion They all would do some losin’ If I only had a toon.
Oh I could make them all Say we’re glad we’re led by Bean, And convince all the martial preteens That tracking losses is obscene
I’d be more than Ender’s shadow, We’d work together, although My smarts he’s not been shewn. We would fight the bugger menace With the product of our genius If I only had a toon.

Here's a story Of a kid named Ender Who had one psychotic brother and a sis
He was sent to Learn battle tactics That weren't as good as his
It's a story Of a little genius Who was smaller than the rest on Ender's team
But his value Surpassed his stature Because he used his Bean
When our fleet at long last reached the Bugger homeworld All our hopes were based on lying to pre-teens It was too late to call the Doctor 'Cause the Bugger world was blown to smithereens
That's Ender's Game But Ender's fame Would be turned into Xenocidal shame

Long ago, after the war had ended, when folks still knew my name, and everyone loved me,
I met the Bug- ger Queen and made a promise, she only had to wait 'till I found where she could be.
Lately although I'm feeling guilty and deep the promise I made has grown impossible to keep, and so, I wonder what to say, to make it up some other way?
Maybe I could tell the world their story, and how I see myself as ruining it all.
(Here they come, the spoilers in this filk song. Please stop reading now, or don't complain at all.) . . . . . . . . Sadly I realized it wasn't a game. And sadder than that, I knew that I have all the blame, and though they did attack us first the things I did were so much worse.
It's all very well to say, "you fool, you couldn't know that." I could have chosen no violence whatsoever.
I could Speak about the dead bugs' story, tell the world their tale and then vilify mine.
I don't see a reason not to do it. Then we could all be friends further down the line.
And if the Hegemon should make me Speak him, Oh I wouldn't hesitate, although the story's grim-- That's right! I'd do it all for free. Because the Xenocide is me.
The speaker for the dead is me.

Being a fan of the enders game series, and musicals, I decided to write a quick song to the music of Zoot Suit Riot named Battle Room Riot.
Who's that with they're gun between thier knees Its two soldiers in Ender's jeesh Frozen kids and swinging hands Who's your commander? Yes I am
Bonzo tried to play now, but can't change formations fast enough Now you parents know, where your children go for fun
Battle Room riot. If your not frozen throw your arms up and cheer Battle Room riot. Unfreeze us now because its cold in here
A whipped up jitterbuggin' buggered eyed man A stray kid frontin' up an eight-piece band Beat on me Bonzo and you'll get my hand In your face hot water ran
You got me in a Battle School and I just want you to send me down Now you teachers know Where I've been dying to go
Battle Room riot. If your not frozen throw your arms up and cheer Battle Room riot. Unfreeze us now because its cold in here

I posted this in Orincoro's other thread, but I thought it would be good to post it here too.
Just you wait Peter Wiggin, just you wait You’ll be sorry but your tears will be too late You’ll be gone, and I’ll be leader Will I help you? Don’t be funny Just you wait Peter Wiggin, just you wait
Ooooh, Peter Wiggin Just you wait until we’re fighting in a war Ooooh, Peter Wiggin And your army cannot fight any more I won’t call for 911 I’ll just stay and watch the fun! O, ho, ho, Peter Wiggin O, ho, ho, Peter Wiggin Just, you, wait.
One day I’ll have power, I’ll be the guy who’s supreme Kill those who complain With my own laser beam. Everyday all the people Will say “Achilles is so great I want his face on everything (like pillows and plates) Next week on the twenty-first of June Achille will be the new name of the moon. All the people will know your name For all time to come And whatever you wished and want Will gladly be done” Thanks a lot, son, says I, in a voice cold as lead One thing I want is Peter Wiggin dead.
Sure, say they all with a shout Guards come and bring the villain out! Then I’ll march you Petter Wiggin to the wall And in fear you’ll stumble and fall And I in my new crown Will shoot you down-down-down O, ho, ho, Peter Wiggin O, ho, ho, Peter Wiggin Just You Wait

Too Much Buggers on their Mind
My mind is clearer now At last All too well I can see Where we all Soon will be If you strip away The myth From the boy You will see Where we all Soon will be
Ender! You've still don't believe The things they say of you You really don't believe This game is really true
And all the good you've done Will soon be swept away The game's begun to matter more Than the things they say
Listen Ender I don't like what I see. All I ask is that you listen to me. And remember, I've been your right hand man all along.
Oh you've caught their world on fire, And soon you'll be their new messiah, But they'll kill us if it turns out wrong!
I remember this war room when we came, No talk of xenocide, we called it a game! And believe me, my admiration for you hasn't died. But every word you say, they'll twist around some other way. To get away you'll have to fly.
Greensboro's most famous son should have stayed a great unknown, like Locke and Demosthenes, he would have made good. Rhetoric and social jests would have suited Ender best He'd have caused no bugger harm, No one alarm
Listen Ender don't you care for our race? Don't you see that we must blow up their place? We are terrorized Have you forgotten how out gunned we are? I am frightened by their hive Don't think that we'll come out alive And they'll crush if we don't go far If we don't, go too far!
Listen Ender to the warning I give Please remember that I want us to live But it's sad to see our chances weakening with ev'ry hour All your followers are blind Too much buggers on their minds It was beautiful, but now it's sour Yes it's all gone sour Ah --- ah ah ah --- ah God Ender, it's all gone sour.
* Wow. Ender Wiggin Superstar would be so easy to write.

For all those hard-core Incubus fans out there:
PARDON ME A decade ago, I never thought I would be a Xenocide on the verge of serious depression. Woe is me! But I guess that it comes with the territory of blowing up a species, completely innocent, to smithereens.
But I need you to hear, I need you to see that I had had all I could take, and exploding them was an inevitable possibility, for me.
So pardon me for when I burst the buggers into flames! I had enough of battle school, and the teacher's mindless games! So pardon me while I fly, and rise above earth's flames. Pardon me, pardon me! I'll never be the same.
Not 2 days ago, I was having a look in a book and I saw a guy pressured down to his knees. I said, "I can relate", cause lately I've been thinking of my heartless sin as a welcomed vacation from the burdens of the planet earth, like gravity, hypocrisy, and the perils of being in 3-D. I just think so much differently.
So pardon me for when I burst the buggers into flames! I had enough of battle school, and the teacher's mindless games! So pardon me while I fly, and rise above earth's flames. Pardon me, pardon me! I'll never be the same.

REDEFINE Imagine your brain as a military machine, yeah, now think of your body as the tool for a killer's deed. Fuse the two; KAPOW! What are you now? You're the human little doctor! Won't you please go kill the Queen? It's in your nature, you can fight your violent-self all you like, no matter what us teachers tell you kids is good and right, So kill, and save this 3rd rock from the sun, by burning myriads of buggers With our cool oversized gun! Go!
Ender: But I'm sick of living in black and white! My mind is tired, and I'm uptight. So sick of ruining myself to fit your definition!
Teachers: Picture the scene, where whatever you loved would, in the blink of an eye, fall apart and become all lost and dead. You'd be sure, boy, that every life gone reflected your selfish life loved, and the plan to save that you hated. So, must we demonstrate the need to get this straight? We've painted a picture, now we're drowning in paint. So lets figure out what beating Bugs is about Before the Hive Queen we hated chews us up and spits us out!
Ender: I'm sick of living in black and white! My brain is dry, and I'm uptight I can't keep ruining myself to fit your definition. Redefine

A long, long time ago I can still remember How my enemies could never best me. And I knew if I watched the vids, I'd conquor armies with my kids, And, maybe, they'd no longer test me. But the showers made me shiver, With every blow that I'd deliver. Bonzo tried to kill me, But died and no one told me. I can't remember if I cried When I went to earth to try to hide, But my duty touched me deep inside The day my childhood died.
So bye, bye my old school in the sky, Left the shuttle in a muddle With no one on whom to rely. And I learned my skills from that Mazer guy, Thinkin', "If I don't my sister Val will die." "If I don't my sister Val will die."
Now for 3 months I was on my own, As my skills I began to hone, No one but Mazer to see. 'Til one day I heard Soup and Bean, Petra, Crazy Tom, and even Dean: They'd restored my jeesh to me. So we buckled down and began to train, Despite lack of sleep and gnawing pain. So many wins were scored - No losses could we afford. But I began to really hate, The battles that we'd simulate. And I grew tired and fell insensate The day my childhood died.
So bye, bye my old school in the sky, Left the shuttle in a muddle With no one on whom to rely. And I learned my skills from that Mazer guy, Thinkin', "If I don't my sister Val will die." "If I don't my sister Val will die."
