Does anyone have any idea? Did I miss the thread that discussed it?

I was considering starting a thread to ask that same question myself.

Looks like February 15th.

Great. The first issue was great and I await the next with anticipation.

Issue? What issue? I know the word, but I don't know what you mean... Can anybody tell me? It sounds VERY interesting!

OSC publishes an online magazine called The InterGalactic Medicine Show (IGMS). The first issue was started in October with updates throughout the quarter and the next issue hopefully is set to be started/released February 15. There is a link at the top of the page.

But you have to use pay-pal (or a credit card) which requires you to be 18... I think.

Posted by Dr Strangelove (Member # 8331) on :

Ermm ... Not quite sure about the 'rules' of pay-pal, or of credit cards, but I have a debit/credit card and have used paypal numerous times, despite not being 18.

Posted by Boon (Member # 4646) on :

Uh. You can buy pre-paid "credit cards" at gas stations and some malls. Once you have one, you can pay through Paypal, no account necessary.

Hmm...interesting...I might have to get me one of those.

When I'm thrilled I usually go the other way, and pee my pants.

Methinks it won't be out on the 15th.

a bet then?

Much as I'd like to see it, I'm with Will on this one. I think it'll be March, actually. Sigh.

Is it not getting enough sales or just slow in getting it ready?

Sergeant

Posted by vonk (Member # 9027) on :

if necessary, i'm willing to purchase a couple dozen issues in order to see it sooner. i've already bought about a year and a half in advance in gift certificates.

so, are we not expecting to see it today then?

Posted by Will B (Member # 7931) on :

My guess is, slow in getting it ready.

Posted by R. Ann Dryden (Member # 8186) on :

Don't forget how busy OSC is, which is what I attribute this to.

Posted by vonk (Member # 9027) on :

oh, i place no blame on the already burdened shoulders of OSC. what with all that he has so generously given us up till now, he is a saint even to offer more works for us to enjoy. i can not wait. any idea what the new Enderverse story will be?

Posted by vonk (Member # 9027) on :

so, no new issue yet. any word on when we can expect it?

Posted by mr_porteiro_head (Member # 4644) on :

It's not here?

man, no new issue yet. [Frown]

Well, I guess I do have plenty to read now anyway. Right now I am reading The Wealth of Nations by Adam Smith and Interview with a Vampire by Anne Rice (some combination).

I don't think so. I'm 13, and I have a joint account with my Dad, so he pays for it, but I still sign and such.

I noticed that there is a change to the IGMS page. No new issue yet, but now there is a "Current Issue" section and a "Past Issue" section. does this mean there is a new issue coming soon? i sure hope so.

It. Is. Out. [Big Grin]

Also, regarding the Paypal thing, you can get prepaid Visa's or some such in America and use Paypal with that if you're under 18, or so I've heard.

Posted by vonk (Member # 9027) on :

YAAAYY!!!!! i'm so happy i peed my pants!!!

guh! akk! my account balance is negative so i can't read the issue until friday!!! no!!!

who wants to buy it for me?

Posted by cheiros do ender (Member # 8849) on :

Well I can't read it for months since I'm Australian, under 18 and without a credit card whatsoever. Going out on a limb, but who wants to buy this one for me?

Posted by vonk (Member # 9027) on :

hehe, we're just a couple of charity cases eh? someone should rename this thread: Donating IGMS

Posted by cheiros do ender (Member # 8849) on :

Nah, after Friday I'll be the only charity case here. [Frown]

Woah, serious? Thanks! (((((vonk)))) Whoa...

As for your latter post: I've read the previews to each story and essay and review, etc. and the theme (Past/Alternate History + Fantasy?) is much better than the first issue since I can relate to it better. I've already got two I'm planning to recommend to certain people to introduce them to speculative fiction.

There's an actual Dissertaion about Science Fiction and Fantasy that seems really well introduced so far, and certainly, by the looks of it, would take up as much space as an entire print magazine.

IGMS is definitely worth way more than US$2.50, so I was quite surprised to see this new issue was the same price as the first, which I'd assumed was just a hooking price. I must work on my writing skills and send an appreciation letter to the editor, methinks.

I've read 'Audience,' 'Yazoo Queen,' 'In the Eyes of the Empress' Cat,' and part of 'Salt of Judas.'

They're all great stories.

I can't get it until wednesday afternoon. I have far too much work due on tuesday, and a test on wednesday, to give myself a distraction right now.

Posted by Sergeant (Member # 8749) on :

I've only read the Yazoo Queen so far and will have to leave it at that because I've got a lot of writing to do in the next couple of weeks.

Anyone have any idea what the Serialized novel will be in this issue or if there will be one?

Sergeant
