Ever since i've heard of this i've been dieing to go. it seems like a really great opportunity to meet OSC and learn a lot about how to improve my stories and style. Does the class require the submission of a writing sample like the Boot Camp does or is it open to anyone who forks over the dough? i'd be really interested in getting some views from anyone who may have attended a class in the past. also, if anyone had any information regarding lodging in the area, it'd be good to know.

OSC's Boot Camp is the best money I've ever spent on education, to include my professional education.

Further, OSC is the best teacher I've ever had. He is simultaneously exacting and approachable. Meaning, I guess, that he makes his expectations for the class very, very clear, but tempers that with graciousness and downright amiability.

Totally worth it.

The class is open to any and all. The bootcamp portion requires a writing sample and being selected. And, like Mr. R above, I couldn't recommend it more.

No need to call me 'Mr...'

You can call me 'Most Dread and Terrible Potentate.'

Go to the main page of this site for details. And hurry: spaces do run out before the posted deadline.

Does anyone have a sample itinerary for the writing class? What exactly does the class involve?

Since it is held at a university, will we be able to stay in student housing?

Here's a summary of our six days:

1) Lecture: MICE, plot outlining
Activity: Seperate into pairs and go out and interview random people for ideas.

2) Lecture: I don't remember, my kids ate my notes.
Activity: Seperate and do research on random topics in the library.

3) Boot Campers spend all day writing. Must finish a short story by day 4.

4) Critique stories.

5) Critique stories.

6) Critique stories.

When I attended at UNCG, they reserved a whole dorm for Boot Camp attendees.

It sounds freakin' awesome. Too bad I have no talent in the creative aspect of writing - I just appreciate the depth of the work of others.

Wow, that sounds really awesome indeed. I would love to go; reading Ender's Game really helped my writing. ^^

Now, if I could get a job and... XD

I kinda wish Card had been a scientist.

I dont because if he was a scientist then Ender would never have been created and ahhhhh just the though alone makes me want to go hide in a corner and cry [Laugh]
