I'm rereading the Homecoming series, and was wondering if someone could enlighten me on something. Is this story closely related to something in the Book of Mormon? I recall that when I read Saints, there was mention of Nafai and Elemak in connection with the Book of Mormon. Did I hallucinate that? If not, where can I find it in the Book of Mormon?

The story is based on sections of the Book of Mormon. Nafai represents Nephi, and Elemak I believe represents Laman. Mebbekew is Lemuel, Issib is Sam, and Volemak is Lehi, etc. (Starts right at the beginning -- 1st Nephi.)

Welcome to Hatrack.

The basic plot of the series is the plot from 1st Nephi, 2nd Nephi. The last book in the series is roughly part of Alma. The character of Nafai is analogous to Nephi in the BofM. and Elemak is roughly analagous to Laman. I don't remember eather name in Saints. In Spanish Nephi is written Nefi. Did you read Saints in Spanish?

EDIT. Opps! you beat me. that's what happens when I use a spell checker.

Thank you all. I didn't read Saints in Spanish, but I did read it almost 2 years ago and I may be remembering incorrectly the reference to Nafai.
