So has anyone else seen this yet. I got it the other day and read it today. I liked it pretty good and thought the artwork was good. It's been a little bit since I've read the book so I can't really compare them. There's a webpage for it here:
http://www.dabelbrothers.com/projects/redprophet/redprophet.html

The same people are also making a comic of Wyrms and the first issue is supposed to come out in May. It has a website here:

I explored that site a little, and I gotta say, those comics look really cool. The idea of taking books and turning them into comics, I mean real comics, not just "illustrated classics" kind of stuff....

Is a great idea.

I haven't read comic books since I was a kid, but this might change that.

"Wyrms" -- I'll get "Wyrms" for sure.

Wyrms would translate well as an animated movie i think.

Wow, I can't believe Wyrms is going to be a graphic novel. I'm trying to imagine the climax not being rated R. I love the book, and there are some really great fight scenes to make for good graphics, but that scene in the cave... woo! I'm not for sure that I would even want to see what that looked like. I'm looking forward to it anyway. I'll have to order Red Prophet and Wyrms with my next pay check.

(Are you supposed to italicize graphic novels?)

Does anyone know how I can order this comic. My comic book store doesn't have it. Portland, Oregon is not exactly over brimming with comic retailers.

They do excellent work. Robert Jordan's "A New Spring" is absolutely beautiful. Mix of epic grandeur and tight character focus.

Samhow4, and anyone else interested,

You can order the Red Prophet graphic novel directly from the publisher Dabel Brothers' website:

25 August 2006 is when Amazon says Red Prophet will be released. But the Dabel Brothers website suggests you can buy it now. I certainly haven't seen a finished copy yet, however, so I suspect on both sites it's really available only for preorders.

I think the book looks great (I get to see the pages early!), and Roland Bernard Brown has done a masterful job with the script. The art is clear and excellent, and I can't wait for the book to be available.

By the way, the Wyrms graphic novel, with a script by Jake Black, will come out in October (again according to Amazon). Jake is a fantastic comix writer ... we have scripts of his to adapt for IGMS ... if the numbers ever get high enough to justify the enormous cost of art online.

Scott,

Ernst has already mailed me volume 1 copies, so I suspect he either forgot about you (oops!) or something go lost in the mail. Want me to ask him?

The Amazon listings are for the full graphic novel which is listed as having 164 pages. You can also buy it as single issuse that have about 22 pages. I think both of these look great and am looking forward to reading them.

I want a graphic novel of the Thomas Covenant books. Preferably illustrated by Darryl K. Sweet.

Never gonna happen, though.

I'm psyched to see these books. I'm a little surprised, though, that they'd start with Red Prophet, rather than with Seventh Son. It's a little like doing an adaptation of The Two Towers without doing one of Fellowship of the Ring. Not to denigrate OSC's work by comparing it with Tolkein, mind you.

Thanks for the kind words, Scott. I really hope that you all enjoy Wyrms. Issue #1 ships on May 24, and the series will be six issues long. They are doing two covers for each issue, which is fun. I'm really proud of it, and I hope you all like it!!

In case anyone was wondering why new issues of Red Prophet and Wyrms hadn't come out in a while the reason was that Dabel Brothers have joined Marvel and they were waiting until all of that got finalized to do the comics. You can find out more about it at their forum:
http://dabelbrothers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=280
and their webpage
http://dabelbrothers.com/home.html

So in October issues one and two of Red Prophet will be re-released together and then new ones monthly after that. They say that Wyrms should start coming out sometime next year.

I thought you said "Jack Black" instead of "Jake Black" for a second... I was scared...

[Frown] My local shop is out of both titles (but they DO carry them!). I have to go back next week. Darn!
