Ender series:
Ender's Game
Speaker for the Dead
Xenocide
Children of the Mind

Bean series:
Ender's Shadow
Shadow of the Hegemon
Shadow Puppets
Shadow of the Giant

Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow are parrallel, and each respective series goes off from the end of those books. It doesn't matter whether you read the Ender or Bean series first, since you've already read Ender's Game. (I would suggest that Ender's Game be the first book you read, no matter what, but others would disagree and say you can read Ender's Shadow first.)

The last Shadow Series book so far ends before Speaker begins.

sweet thanks. I think ill read the shadow series next. just out of curioity is the name Lusitania (name of the planet in the 2-4 books) taken from the Lusitania that was sunk in world war one by the german u-boat?

quick referance

Actually, I think that Lusitania was the original name of Portugal, long long ago.

Lusitania was a cruise ship full of civilans that was sunk by the Germans for political reasons. If you read the last 2 books of the Speaker series, you'll see some similarities between the planet and the ship in that regard. I don't know if OSC named it because of that. It would make sense for the settlers to name it after the old name of Portugal.

FYI, even though the Shadow series takes place before the Speaker series, they really have no connection what so ever to each other, so it still doesn't matter which you read first.

from your link:

quote:
Of those on board, 761 were rescued, while 1,198 perished. Lusitania's sinking, and the sinking of White Star's Arabic a few months later, vividly demonstrated that prior concepts of the rules of war no longer prevailed, and that unarmed merchant ships were no longer safe from attack.
That's VERY similar to the Lusitania's situation in the last 2 books. Interesting.

I would actually recommend reading the Shadow series first. I think there's quite a difference in style from Enders Game to Speaker for the Dead while there isn't much from Enders Game/Enders Shadow to Shadow of the Hegemon. I guess that doesn't make much sense, but basically I would wrap it up with Earth before I go out into far outer space. It was a bit rough for me to read the kind of philosophical Ender Series and then go back to the geopolitcal nature of the Shadow series. But that's just me.

I would read Speaker for the dead, because it's just so damn good.
Wait. Ender's shadow is so damn good as well..

I'd read Speaker because it's different from Ender's Game/Shadow and right now you're focused on Ender. A continuation of that focus may be good.

I would tend to agree with this assesment. Either way, read Ender's Game a second time.

I'd do the Ender books next, because I'm an advocate of reading them in the order they were written.

Read them in random order. Heck, read a different chapter from a different book every day.
