In the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, they review Empire. They gave it a B+. Not only that, but the book got it's own little column instead of being clumped into the "What's new in Sci-fi/Fantasy?" box.

The link isn't up on their website yet. But I have the magazine. The person reviewing the book also recommends that people read Ender's Game.

In any event, a B+ is really good. Congrats, Mr. Card.

An A from EW generally means that it's a book of unreadable literariness. An A- means it's a LOUSY book of unreadable literariness. So B+ is the highest grade that a book I write could ever aspire to ... <grin>

I subscribe to EW ... yet our copy never got here. The ONE issue in which I get a standalone review, and we don't get it ...

Mr. Card, as a long time fan, I must say I detect a bit of cynicism towards critics in your post. Is this true? ( big grin here, I agree!)

Do you think that the exposure is good, even if it is tempered?

btw, it is very cool that you actually post here. Many authors never show their "face" on their own fan websites!

Maybe next time you'll get a B+ for Master Alvin! (hint hint nudge nudge)

And your grade will go down 10 points for every month it's overdue. [Razz]

A B+ is higher than my grade in History right now. So, that's good to me.

There is no such thing as bad publicity...

And somewhere a mailman is trying to see how much he can get for the issue of EW with OSC's first standalone review, complete with OSC's name and address printed on the front.

Any book about Britney Spears or Paris Hilton would get an A+.

Empire looks like its in the completely wrong genre.
