Orson,

I know you will update us when there's something significant to update, but at this point, even insignifanct things would be very pleasing to know. For example, what is happening with the script right now? Is it being reviewed, tweaked, rejected, pondered, sitting on an exec's shelf? Are you tweaking or is someone else?

Gracias.

Um, Von...it's "Mr. Card," I'm afraid. You probably just pissed him off, because otherwise he'd have told you everything.

Because there's nothing to report.

The script turned out to have 116 pages...

...and half of them were odd pages.

It's true!

I just joined this whole shindig. An Ender's Game movie would be a bad idea. There is no way the characters or setting of the book could be made into a movie w/out coming of as a cheesy sc-fi flick to those who don't know the story.

Shadow of the Hegemon, while not as intriguing to those familiar with the whole ordeal, would make a better movie because it would allow for an Earthbound setting, teenage casting, and a less celebrated story that could actully persuade people to read the supporting stories (Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow for starters) rather than turn people off to them.

An Ender's game movie would be too hard to replicate without being over-the-top. Its beliveable and great as a book, but nobody would believe the 80 dull-eyed 8-year-old actors that would be necessary in attempt to create a movie out of Ender's Game.

Plus it would take a Spielberg or Jackson to pull the funds needed to come close to recreating the Battle School I have imagined (and my imagination of the setting is probably fairly average).

That sloth is fairly moving.

I hate to say this, but Haley Joel Osment is now about 19 years old. He's old enough (not that I'm recommending this) to have a kid.

And at the rate things are going, his kid could probably play Ender...

And Jake Lloyd just turned 18 a few weeks ago. That made me laugh.

You're welcome to your opinion. I disagree, but rather than rehash I'll direct you to the 'search' button up top. There are several long and interesting discussions on this topic, some of which have answers to your concerns from the top dog himself.

Welcome to hatrack.

Well, I guess it's a good thing that OSC is retaining a relatively tight grip on the film's production (from what I hear, anyway). That way, he can make sure it'll be up to his standards (and who knows better how the story should be told than the author?). Either that, or it just plain won't be made at all if he can't get the producers to do it right.

Good times! I'm looking forward to it. I hope it gets made some day. Preferably some day soon, but I'm not too picky.

I thing that they are waiting for Jake Lloyd and Haley Joel Osment to be old enough to play Graff and Anderson and for Dakota Fanning to play Sister Carlotta

A Lord of the Rings movie would be a bad idea. There is no way the characters or setting of the book could be made into a movie w/out coming of as a cheesy fantasy flick to those who don't know the story.

so... does anyone know whats going on with the movie. Is there still any hope that it will become a movie?

There's always hope. Patient, patient hope. [Wink]
I'm sure it will happen in my lifetime.
