OSC,

It has been a while since any word has been released in regards to these much antisipated novels. I have always been a fan of the Enderverse saga and when I first heard the news of these novels I swear that a permenant smile was plastered on my face for hours. But that was a while ago and I'm trying to be as patient as I can but it's becoming a challenging opponent.
I have much to look forward to this year; with the release of Terry Goodkind's concluding 'Sword of Truth' novel and the wide-spread news of the battleschool christmas story (which is unkown whether it is a novel or a short story of some kind) but what I was truely looking forward to hear about was the status of the last two Enderverse novels.
Understanding that you are a great author with a vast schedual and a number of projects with otherwordly expectations, I can't begin to fathom how the two novels could be published this year and in writing this my intent is not to add to the already pressure inflicted by others (I would not want these novels to be rushed by any means. I would rather read another masterpiece like Speaker.) but is instead to merely ask the status of these tales.
Perhaps all I need is another fix of info to keep my anticipation under control. Checking your site's homepage hoping to see an update just isn't working.
On behalf of all your fans since I'm sure that they all sincerly agree with the following statement, I thank you for all you hard work, past and future, and hope that you can keep it up. You are truely a legend as you are a marval.

A Fan [Hat]

Have you checked out the Enderverse stories in OSC's webzine?

Mazer in Prison: Deals with Mazer Rackham's long voyage away from home, and back home.

Pretty Boy: Tells the story of Bonzo Madrid's childhood in Barcelona

Cheater: Reveals Han Tzu's early years as a child genius in China.

There's also an Alvin Maker story in issue #2 called The Yazoo Queen.

I've gotta say, I feel trance's pain. It's now been 2 years since the last enderverse novel, and just as long since we've heard any news about future ones. Short stories are nice for some, but they just don't do it for me.

Ah well. I don't want to sound impatient or unappreciative. I just wanted trance to know that he (or she?) is not alone. Just hang in there and one of these days when you least expect it there'll be a big announcement! It could be tomorrow, or a year from now, but it'll happen.

Its been 2 years since the books been out already? Wow. I really need to come here more often.

Yea, me too.
You know what would be great, another chance for Neo-Dragon/anyone else(or atleast I think it was neo dragon)to show off his knowledge of the EnderVerse with the release of the first chapter of the new book for proof reading [Razz]

Yeah, that was me... And I didn't think that anyone remembered. [Blushing]

lol, I guess after 2+ years my memory is still as pristine as ever [Razz]

And how could I forget anything that happened that day, it was a great day when I got the pleasure of reading and doin my best to help along another Shadow book [Smile]

Infact, I do believe there was a joke along with that thread, what was it?
Something like-
"Imagine, years from now, Neo-Dragon will be sitting down in a rocking chair, reading along Shadow of a Giant to his grand children, and show them the credit to his name on the credits page" or something along those lines [Razz] maybe you can dig up that thread and quote it for me [Wink]

Yeah, good times...
I can't find the thread though. I can't remember what it was called.

lol, well, it must be hard finding something that was more than 2 years old, I guess I will do my own searchin.

Fast forward 70 years into the future:

New Year's Eve and the family is gathered in the old family home. Neo-Dragon is sitting on his rocking chair, the rocking mechanism set to low so he doesn't lose his balance. Several young children are gathered around.

"Fetch me the book;" Neo-Dragon's voice is raspy with age, but still strong with pride. One of the great-grandchildren runs to the shelf where, under a protective case, a hard-cover book is displayed. She carefully brings the book over and lays it gently in his lap. The pages are slightly yellowed with age, and the book falls open to a page near the start of the first chapter.

"Can I read it this time?" The youngest grandchild can't actually read yet, but the knows the words from hearing them each New Years Eve. She leans over Grampa Neo's shoulder and recites,

"'Everyone knows that you piloted the first colony ship,' said Han Tzu.

'We lied,' said Mazer Rackham."

Grampa Neo's body shook with silent laughter. "Them's my words," he chortled.

"Did you write them, Grampa," one of the kids asked, his voice filled with awe.

"No, Grampa didn't write them. But I found a mistake in the manuscript before it was even published, and this was put in to fix it." He closed the book, leaned back in the chair and closed his eyes. It had been a good life. He had righted a wrong and no one could ever take that away from him.

LOL!
Wow... I can't believe that was over two years ago! Thanks for finding that.

I don't care how long it takes. I'd rather have something good than something rushed. Besides, it's not a good idea to rush art.

Wow, 2 years ago. I believe that was when i joined, makes me realize i've been browsing a long time. Posting very little too, also. :-P

Yeah, I joined right after Shadow of the Giant was published. Two years, wow. August 2002 to March 2005 was the wait time between Puppets and Giant (2.5 years) but I think trance might be right in that the next book won't be out that quickly.

Oh well. I know OSC's been fantastically busy. And the waiting makes the moment of a new book's arrival all the sweeter. [Smile]

If I'm not mistaken, there were 5 year gaps between the publications of SftD and X, as well as X and CotM! I am soooo happy that the entire quartet was finished before I read them. Considering how SftD and X ended, I can't imagine having to wait 5 years for the next novel. In fact, when I finished Xenocide my number 1 priority the very next day was to go out and find a copy of CotM.

I don't know, look at the release dates of the shadow series-
Enders Shadow- Dec 2000
Shadow of the Hegemon- November 2001
Shadow Puppets- June 2003
Shadow of the Giant- March 2006

I mean, if you just look for a simple correlation between the release dates, 1-2 took 1 year, 2-3 took 2 years, 3-4 took 3 years, 4-5 might take 4 years, aka, release date of 2010 :/ Hopefully I am dead wrong, but, you never know :/

I finished all the books about 4 months ago, and I don't want to wait anymore I can't imagine waiting another 5 years. I hope you are wrong. But I think it is possible OSC is working on the Movie, and all these books. How does he even find the time.
