I am in a band that is totally kinda pretty good in my onion, but we find ourselves at a lack of decent names... If anybody out there has any ideas at all they would be so greatly appreciated!

"In My Onion"

I prefer "My Honest Onion."

"More Obscure" is a band name that I came up with earlier today.

I find this catchy: Rasputin and the Bolsheviks

Dude just couldn't die...

Band names are easy. I came up with these just by looking at things close by.

Mousepad
Ashtray
dying flowers (heavy metal band or something)
broken clock (maybe if you do retro music of some kind.)
lampshade (not a jazz band are you?
crooked picture
playing cards

All very good band names in my opinion, though Boon's idea creates an interesting origin story.

I always though Pink Floyd ws a good name for a band. Might be taken though...

Penguin
Hurricane
Robot

based on your name, "the clandestine band" would be good.

My best frend always said that if we ever formed a band, it'd be called "Nazi Adhesive." I don't know why, but I think it was because she wanted to name the first album "Issues With Tape."

'Undable Etterpants'
'Divide By Zero'
'Askance Glances'

How about "Those Guys?"

"I just LOVE Those Guys, do you have the new cd from Those Guys? Hey! Those Guys are playing a concert in a month, we should go see Those Guys!"

Even if people have never heard of you they'll be talking about you daily.

"Limozeen" - oh, wait. That's already taken. Curse you Strongbad!

Posted by Mucus (Member # 9735) on :

Conversely, how about "The Man" (as in "the Man is keeping me down")
That way a lot of people will already be angry at you before you even start, free publicity!

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

Yeah but, if they get really good, it'll confound two generations of railing against The Man, and we'll have to start saying "I LOVE The Man."

It'll ruin everything!

Jazz and ambient rock... how about 'Silk' or 'Satin' or 'Satin Sounds', or if you are a little daring, how about 'Satin Sheets'.

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

I like Violense. Clever one Scott.

Makes me think of Apocalyptica, so here are some shamelessly derivative names:

Cataclysmica
Catastrophica
Irremediable Calamity...ica

You guys should all start your own bands... Just learn to play guitar or drums or something... Cause those are some pretty tizite names for sure... Turn out though in my honest onion that it would be almost a sin for me to jack one of your hard-thought names for myself... I will just have to suffer on my own.........

'Arms Akimbo'
'Waxing Gibbous'
'Cassus Belli'

nah, don't be silly Clandestineguitarplayer, don't think of it as stealing a hard-thought name, think of it as not letting a hard-thought name go to waste.

Posted by scifibum (Member # 7625) on :

I just figured that was a polite way of saying "Um...nice names, but not quite to my taste."

Posted by Clandestineguitarplayer (Member # 11571) on :

No, they really are great! For real...

Actually, I think the most interesting band names come from combining the first word of one band name on this page with the second word of another.

Waxing Akimbo
Crooked Onion
Lampshade Robot

Posted by Clandestineguitarplayer (Member # 11571) on :

WOW! I love the waxing Akimbo one! I am seriously gonna ask the guys about that one! In a somewhat related note, our first song is up now! You guys really have to check it out! Seriously, its pretty sweet we think and the song is kinda like a seminary lesson in itself... In fact I used it as a devotional in seminary the other day...

Cows With Horns

Bwah ha ha ha
